The Reviews Pour in.....

Hey folks.  I want to thank everyone who has sent me press kits over the last several months.  I have a desk full of kits waiting to be reviewed.  As some may know, we just bought our first house a month ago.  I now have a “real” home for the FWM (actually FWDMP) Offices.  With that good stuff, comes a bunch of preparation.  I have finally got the office in a workable order.  This has no doubt hindered my ability to keep up with my FortWayneMusic.com work, as my clients are racking up.  I spent all of the last few weeks catching up with my work, and I am finally in a position to get to some reviews.

I'm a little late to the game, but until recently, there hasn't been much need for URL Shorteners.  With Twitter and to a lesser extent, Facebook, sharing short links are a necessity.  URL Shorteners provide a simple function:  shrink a long URL that you can use in your post, tweet, status update or web articles.  It is easy and handy to use a shortened URL once you find the right tool.

I guess if I'm gonna be writing in this space, I should give everyone a clear understanding of where I'm coming from. I was born in 1980 and raised in Marion, about an hour south of Fort Wayne. When I was young I didn't listen to manufactured kid's music. No Raffi for me. My parents raised me, from a very young age, on the music they loved. I was weaned on Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & The Papas, Peter, Paul & Mary, Herman's Hermits, and of course, The Beatles (their early stuff only, of course, for the little one.) From birth I was familiar with the simple harmonies and sweet subtleties of the 60's.

A press kit is a small packet of information that bands/musicians will send out to all walks of music business related folk (big and small).� Most (good) press kits may include some of the following items:

1. Photo of the band
2. Brief biography of the band
3. Press/Review clippings
4. Notable shows/venues played
5. Samples of your work
