Embarassing Music Related Stories

Post by MrSpall »

George Harrison's "(Got My Mind) Set On You" came on the radio yesterday, and a thought occured to me. I loved that video when I was a kid. It had the singing animal heads in the weird cabin. I remember clearly a time when I used to wish for more songs and videos from George Harrison. I could never figure out why he never made any more (that I ever heard). It wasn't for another couple of years that I realized that George Harrison was The George.

Who else has an embarassing muscial confession to make?

I got one for ya.
This is actually a friend of my wifes and she also played sax in our band for a short time so there is no good excuse for this one since she is a musician and all.
A few years ago we took our munchkin, Madeline, to the Museum of Art and "the friend" went along. Oh what the hell, her name is Ingrid. Anyhoo...it was a series of photographs of famous musicians from the 60's and 70's. So we're walking along and there's Janis, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, so forth and so on. And then we get to one of the most easily recognizable guitarists on the planet and Ingrid says with a straight face, who is that? And I'm like, you gotta be kiddin me. She says no, really who is it. And I tell her, and she says, oh...I thought Jimi Hendrix was white! doh!
That's all I got.

The first rap release I owned was by a novelty act that went by the name Morris Minor and the Majors, the song was called "Stutter Rap" and it was the only 7" I ever bought.

I often confuse Don Henley and Glen Frey. Which one has the bad white man 'fro? You could tell me today and I'd forget by tomorrow. And I'm really good about that sort of thing most of the time.

I never owned an album and I never claimed to be a fan.

You owned how many ICP albums, though?

I never thought they were good enough to spend money on buying the CD's, though.

I own a Stone Roses CD...I picked it up cause I heard a Bush song off Sixteen Stone...couldn't remember the band or song's name, so thought that was it. I tried to like it, but it really just sucked. That was 1994, before the internet was mainstream, so I couldn't look it up...and before Bush got really popular...
