Right.... Right.... I hijacked it.

Yea... okay let me refresh you

That seems a pretty blatant attempt right there. It served no purpose.

Bassjones go ahead and lock it and do us all a favor.

Oh and moderating... I have way better things to do that act like ollie and attempt to insert a smartass comment in every thread, or like you garr, who are a representative of the board and its included rules and guidelines, and yet you still break fundamental etiquette and post something of no relevance attempting to make a joke...

Oh, and I have a whole bunch of better things to do than work with douchebags like you guys.

I already received some PMs supporting me for bringing this issue to light.

What is the logic of saying "a) know nothing about and b) fall short of making a positive contribution to"

I am attempting to do that right now by stopping these little comments from happening, which I know that I view and a certain few other people (who for the record come here in an attempt to actually enrich the music scene) view that as a highly positive contribuition

Perhaps we should include a rating system for users, where other users rate them based on their contributions. Too many negative ratings and it bans you. Perhaps that would then allow for moderating of the "moderators" who themselves cause problems. I am a member on a different board, and that seems to work rather effectively.

In a normal conversation I try not to insult people. Politeness.. Try it sometime, I hear it does wonders.

I think there is a user rating MOD for the forums...:) I might look into it...

But aside from a rating system...this has moved WAY off track now...

Love it or hate it...we moderate pretty god considering the time we spend on other aspects of the site...

This is not an 'out of the box' project like some other sites...we have, other than the base code for the forums, built this site from scratch.

HUNDREDS of hours of MODing of the forums aside...the MANY hours spent by Garr himself building a dynamic backend to drive certain features...and now a second person coming in with the same ability and skills to contribute...

We moderate as best we can...and it doesn't please everyone...it never will. If we open the flood gates for profanity and absurdity we are blasted by the 'righteous', and when we censor such activity we are labeled 'racists and dictators'...

The occasional poke or nab at someone for a stick of humor needs to be taken that way...Garr was making a joke, as many have in the past, and it was taken WRONG...he has explained himself and even in my opinion probably crossed the line on nitpicking a retort to his joke...but bottom line...this is an open forum for opinion and expression...

You don't HAVE to read the thread...if you thought his comment was 'bad' then either click off the topic and find another one more suited to your taste or join in with good constructive criticism...and that goes for Garr as well...be aware of what can of works you might open and be ready for what anyone and everyone has to say about it...

At least on THIS site...we have a level of diversity that is unmatched...we allow everyone to come and go freely and don't ban you for 'race' or what 'clique' you belong too at that moment...

We WANT you hear, but we are not going to change the site and cater to anyone just so they will 'play with us'...THAT is NOT reality...

Now go play...

All I see are empty excuses and straw man arguments.

Regardless of how YOU interpret what I wrote, my clarification and explanation should stand, yet it's being questioned.

But, like I always say, "arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still a retard."

It's actually, directly on topic: that song. It served two purposes, one intended and one extemporaneous. The intent was to make a joke while pointing out the similarities between one band's music and another band's. The other was that it opened a LEGITIMATE discussion about how it's not a bad thing to sound similar to other artists and how you can still be creative, productive, and successful in that line of music.

Sooo. . .um. . .what?

I am going to go ahead with the Rosemary Gates theme and stick with "The Lead Singer is a d*ck".

At least no one disputed that.
