Seriously though, the only way we're relly going to affect gas prices is to reduce our consumption. Forget this boycott crap - let's try turning May 15th into an 'Energy Awareness Day'. Now bassjones, before you go calling me an environmentalist-hippie-tree hugger, hear me out. Couldn't we take all of the time and publicity that's gone into this doomed boycott and put it behind encouraging people to spend one day car-pooling, walking, biking, or taking public transportation? It would actually be much more effective.

I know it would require some sacrifice. Your feet might ache the first time you walk to work. You may have to listen to someone else's radio station on the ride to work. You may even be stuck on the bus next to the guy with the crazy hair that keeps asking you who would win a wrestling match between Bret Hart and Bugs Bunny. In the end, if we all did this for a day - maybe even (gasp) a week - it would affect real change in the global oil economy. It's the only way any of this is ever gonna really change.

We don't need to boycott BUYING gas. We need to boycott USING it.

Or we could just actually take all the oil from Iraq. Since that's why some people think we went there in the first place. I mean seriously, just take it from them.

Ya know, if we as Americans, just killed everyone in the world we didn't like or caused problems for someone else, life would be so much easier and we could all do what we want...

I've considered designing a bomb that just has sickle-cell anemia in it and dropping it on the world.

I've considered getting into the factory that makes yamikas and applying a contact poison to the fabric that activates with sweat.

I've considered putting enhancers in all the Guinness that cause immediate alcohol poisoning.

I've considered putting salmonella in all the refried beans and ground beef south of the USA borders.

The list could go on foreva, ad nauseum.

If we really want to effect the cost of gas, EVERY gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fuel. consumer would need to boycott purchasing fuels for at least a week possibly a month or more, I can't wait to find a place in fort wayne so i can bike to work.

Speaking of which does anyone know of a 3br house for rent that is large pet friendly, haven't been able to find one yet, PM me if you know of a place.

Environmentalists are mentally ill.
Luckily, the environmentalists on both sides of the issue aren't dogmatic so that legitimate means can be taken to ensure a healthy future. Unfortunately, people who pretend to be right-leaning dont understand that they're behind their own curve.
But ethanol drives up the cost of beef by driving up the cost of corn.
That's true. It also raises the cost of all corn substitutes too. Everybody Loves Microeconomics.

So how's the gas boycott treating you folks? It's a good thing you're not buying gas today. Prices jumped to $3.39/gallon around the area.

You're making a difference. I didn't have to wait in line at the pump this morning! Just stop buying gas altogether and my life will be much easier. I can leave 5 minutes later for work now.

I am starting the 'Take your lunch to work for gas' campaign.

I figure if everyone just packed their lunch and stuck it out at the office every day for a week we would use less gas all around.

Everyone at the CU today seemed to rush out early for their lunch so they could go get gas before it went up in price...HOWEVER, if they had all just stayed HERE we would have saved hundreds of gallons of gas with my offices alone...

So pack a lunch and shut up...:)
