Any Progressive Rockers Out There?!

Post by TheBottomFeeder »

Just curious really; The Fort doesn't really seem like a hotbed for that kind of music, but I thought I'd ask around anyway.

I guess I'd like to see if anyone would like to form a progressive band, or I'd join one of any exist and need players.

I'm most confortable with bass(which I've played for about ten years), but can also play some guitar, drums, a little keyboards, and sing when I'm not insecure about it:)Yes, I am a modest musical freak(lol)

I like artists like Dream Theater, Rush, Tool, King's X, Joe Satriani, and similar peeps as well.

If I could put my own group together, I would look for a guitarist, drummer, maybe singer, and I guess keyboard/sound efx man. If the rest of you can sing, that's a plus. I'm in the mid-20s age group, so that might be what I'm looking for as well.

If a prog band needs me, I'll just see if I can supply the damand; if not, I'll help you with your search.
So yeah.
That's it really.

So now the floor is open to the usual hecklers and occasional serious players:)
enjoy.

I'm in the process of putting something together, but I play bass, so...

More on the King Crimson side though...

I've been trying to upload tracks from an instrumental rock album I made years ago('cause I want to sell it!:), but my only computer access has been at libraries, so it's been a frustrating work in progress:)
And there's a couple demos I started toying around with lately as well.
On all the recordings, I performed guitar, bass, keyboards, and drum & bass programming.
If you were really interested in hearing it, I'd probably have to mail it to you(lol)

As for you bassjones, as you can read, I play other instruments as well.
So if you're handling bass, no problem.
But what era of Krimson do you have in mind?
I loved it when Adrian Belew joined the group.

I know.
It's hard to find the right combination of players who want to work toghther and don't have issues.
Too often bands have conflicting interests, egos, and hidden agendas.
It's harder to find a bunch of laid-back musicians who just want to have a good time making music.

Now as far as the prog band thing goes, I would aspire to make music in the vein of my influences, but I wouldn't expect or demand anyone to be virtuosos.
Yeah, It'd be great to have the nimble-fingered chops of John Petrucci for example, but it's not required:)

Heh...the only band to NOT have conflicting interests, egos or hidden agendas is a solo act:)

Yeah, if someone had told Van Halen that years ago, he wouldn't keep tossing singers out of HIS band(lol)
