I replaced all the bulbs in my house already, and I'm glad I did, especially if they really do last 5 years or whatever they're supposed to last. The only drawback is they're not very bright, so we have to turn on more lights... Wonder if that's common and if that nullifies the energy savings from changing to the new bulbs... like when they made that stupid law about 1.5 gallon flushes on the toilets. Now people just have to flush 4 times instead of one...

We have a few in our house as well...I haven't noticed a difference in brightness though. I mean, you are replacing similar "rated wattage", right?

In any event, for me, it wasn't a "energy saving" measure. It was a cost savings and laziness (as they last a lot longer). But, that is me:)

We're on the "budget plan", so not yet, but we'll see at the end of the year when they reassess our usage.

I have CFB's throughout our house, and there has been a "slight" drop in our electrical usage. However, I live with four females who demand air conditioning, hence it really doesn't matter that much.

I'm also the one walking around turning lights off.

I have never understood why the Gloabl Warming fear mongers always hop on planes and fly to far off countries to have their conferences...

Have these people never heard of a video conference? :-)

(of course they have....)

It's sad that, because someone reaches "celebrity" status, they think that their ideas and beliefs have any more merit than anyone else. Because Sheryl Crowe is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and musician I would consider that she has some great insights into the music biz.

However, she is not a scientist, climatologist, or biologist. Therefore, she opinion is no more valuable than mine or yours.

Just my $.02's worth.

Just cancel the tour and transmit the video worldwide - no polluting fans driving cars to venues, no polluting tailgate parties, no diesel tour buses smoking up the joint, and best of all, your TV has a volume knob, so when she spews enviro claptrap, you can turn it down.

What's with this tour that's going to all 7 continents including Antarctica to protest global warming? Isn't the penguin kingdom supposedly a pristine environment? Why bring people and pollution there to protest people and pollution? Besides, there is very little reason to travel to Antarctica practically, unless you are a researcher.

We replaced all our bulbs with flourescents. They take a minute to reach full brightness. They are a bit dimmer; but you get used to it. If I did my math right, they will save us about $300 over the total life of the bulbs. Not huge, but cool anyway. Lights are probably not our biggest power hog.

I do wonder about the TOTAL environmental impact of the bulbs. They probably take more energy and exotic materials to produce than standard bulbs, and I think they do have mercury in them, which will put a lot more merc in landfills in a few years.

Did anyone read/hear that Sheryl's remarks were made in jest as joke commentary?

For the love of Pete, people. Must you read conspiracy into forking everything?

After summoning up *all* of your common sense, do you honestly believe that Sheryl, and whatshername Larry David's wife (which should have been your red flag of parody) *REALLY* suggest that we be rationed one square of toilet paper?

Really? Is that what you believed?

I swear... people.

Every day your knee-jerk bandwagon pile-ons are even more ridiculous.

And Seve....returning cancer?

C'mon.

It surprises me that a bunch of skeptical guys who demand absolute proof on everything "global warming" lets sheryl Crow get your panties in a bunch over a parody commentary about toilet paper.

Way to think it out and get all the facts first.

I just don't think "the public" realizes that if you had official statements taken on occaision or media published comments you made on a regular basis, that you too, could sound like a nut ball...

I say tons of crap or make comments that could easily be taken out of context or derived to mean something completely different, on at least a daily basis...luckily, I don't have someone recording or documenting me, so I don't have to worry about this:)

Yeah it was the timing.

And she's insane.

And you really believe that she demands T.P. rationing.
