FWCS Board, I'm thinking of voting out all the incumbents.

Sheriff - "Do you want Fries with that?"

- on a side note, what genius with the local Democratic party decided it'd be a good idea to run a VERY masculine lesbian (oh, come on, don't pretend you didn't know!) for sheriff in this county? Certain districts for one of the Commissioner seats maybe, but sheriff? They had to have known they'd lose anyway - what's it been about 50 years since a Democrat won the Sheriff's race? - and decided to throw the gay community a bone (and there's no pun intended, so don't go there).

I would vote for her if I thought she'd do a better job, but seeing how every single cop I talk to tells me they want Fries and how much more I've liked him when I've heard the two address the city/county issues at hand. I also respect Sheriff Herman a ton, so his endorsement (yes, I know it's along party lines) of Ken makes a big impact.

on edit: I hate that when I type the common word for a person who is attracted to other persons of the same sex/gender, it shows up as "queer". How queer is that? - and that time I actually did type queer.

I have met both and heard both speak on their platforms. One word can sum up Taviano - VISION. Plus, she has credibility and a platform that actually makes sense, regardles of her questionable sexual orientation or hairstyle.

Fries came off as an outright jerk... a posterboy for the Fort Wayne conservative politician-types. Taviano came off as a real, sensible person who has put in over 13 years on the police force and has damn good ideas. She wants to make law enforcement subject to random drug tests (makes sense to me - so long as drugs are illegal, we should hold officers to the same standards they are enforcing- DUH) while Fries doesn't seem to make that a priority. She wants to combine city & county 911 offices, cutting expenses & making response times quicker (again, another DUH).

So, yeah...because Taviano is a female, sexual orientation in question, of course cops support Fries because they wouldn't wanna take orders from a possible "lesbian female" that also is a democrat, that just happens to have a vision AND ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE. So, yep...she might lose....but she's got my vote nonetheless.

That's fine with me, and I personally am not basing my vote on her sexuality in any way shape or form. When it comes to actual law enforcement, I much prefer conservatives frankly. Making laws, well that's another story. I didn't find him to be a jerk at all when I met him, and I also have a boatload of respect for the current sheriff, whom I had for a couple of classes when I was a CJ major.

Regardless, I don't think it's going to be close at all. It looks like Souder's running away with this thing down the homestretch too.

I'm remaining optimistic, but this is the heartland, so you're probably right. I'm voting Haysurst/Taviano tomorrow morning regardless.

has anyone else laughed their asses off at the souder comercials on the radio? i hear them about 6 or 7 times a day at work and the whole "liberals are trying to take over washington.... save america and vote for me" approach is hillarious!!! f**k that douchebag. he makes it sound like liberals and democrats are evil spawns of satan and very unamerican. haha
salvation or annihilation the choice is up to you and me. Genocide is now a threat but soon to be reality, it takes two sticks to create a spark, imagine the spark of millions, a million hands joined in love could save us from the killing.

Done. And it was a perfect time to scam some breakfast on the way back to work, too.
