IMHO, if you can't live up to the hype, call it quits. Don't try to slightly satiate us, just say, "We couldn't f*#king do it, so f*ck you" and call it. I would've respected that, wouldn't you? It just seems that so many people are panning the effort already, I don't see how they're going to keep that golden reputation intact. And again, many people were let down with lateralus, but still, there was that pure respect. This time, I have lost faith!
I disagree. It's up to the fans to 'hype' up a new album. TOOL is making music. It's what they started off doing and it's what they're doing now. If you set yourself up for disappointment, that's your own damn fault.

Always expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed.

Thats how I've made this far without killing myself.

So I got the actual new TOOL album today, and the packaging is so forking genius its ridiculous.

Here's the disclaimer for usage of the Stereoscopic lenses that are part of the packaging:

"The stereoscopiclenses are being provided as part of the packaging to enhance your artwork experience of the 10,000 Days package. PLEASE USE THEM SAFELY. Use of the lenses for any other purpose is not recommended and shall not result in any liability Volcano, Sony/BMG, or TOOL."

You take the CD package and look through the booklet using the lenses and they magnify and make the dual image 3-D! And (gasp! shock! horror!) there are actual pictures of the band in there!

Thank you TOOL for giving me more than I bargained for once again.

Oh yeah, the album is great. Did I say that already?

That packaging sounds awesome, I can't wait to get my hands on it. I've been listening to the disc for over a week now, and I totally love it. When I first hear Vicariously, I started laughing at the idea of that being a radio single because it's in 5, and actually very damn Progressive and King Crimsonish/Meshuggahish.

Anyways, I love the whole album. It took me a few listens to take it all in, because it's 77 minutes of Tool...but after letting everything settle a bit and listening with headphones, I appreciate it even more.

I picked up 10,000 days today.
The leaked tracks on the net were junk.
The CD is amazing!
It's worth every penny...

I have to most honorably concede to massage bored here after listening to the new album at home, away from work, in front of good speakers and full concentration.

Alot was going on that I didn't hear before. I really am loving this one now.

After further listening I am most happy to say that lataralus is still my least favorite tool album.

I think I have almost fully digested the new disc, and this is my diagnosis. The band is spectacular once again. The music is soooo sonically pleasing. The energy always erupts at the perfect time. My only gripe is that Maynard is missing. I needed to hear more Maynard. Of course, then it might've been A Perfect Circle album.

check this out. 10000 days(wings part2) is 11 min. 13 sec long, vinginti tres is 5:02 and wings for marie (part 1) is 6:11. 5:02 + 6:11= 11:13. so if you sync up 10000 days with vig. tres and wings1 consecutively...

it may all just be coincidence but i think at 9:14 there is some compelling evidence.

Everyone needs to listen to that with headphones, its pretty rad. And you are correct, very compelling at 9:14.

I had missed the previous post about the synching thing, that's really cool. I just wanted to say that the more I listen to this CD the more I love it. I like it a lot when it came out, but I see the genius behind it now. I love how Tool CDs take me a little longer to actually get what is going on because they're so damn dense. I can't wait to see this stuff in concert now. :)

ok we've had long enough to listen to 10000 days 10000 times....

and...

i love this cd. This is amazing. and there is a reason for the name '10000 days'. from what i heard maynards mom was or still is in a coma. It has been 27 years and some change since she went in... 27 x 365 = 9855.... plus that 'extra change' and she has been or was in a coma for about 10000 days. tool is deep, real deeep.
