Nugent rips Sir Paul for,...

have musical touring associates who have been fired from their jobs with ex-Beatle Paul McCartney for sneaking a hamburger.

You heard that right. Fired for eating meat by an animal-rights maniac, hard-core vegan bass player.

saw that this morning. get 'em Ted! I can't stand the music, but the guy is hysterical and intelligent as heck. I grew up in Jackson, played against Toby in basketball, know his wife and have met Ted numerous times. He's a riot to be around, and yes, he really is that hyper. What you see is what you get with him.

I recognize your attempt at a parallel, but both instances are minorities being singled out by the status quo whereas this is an instance of a minority ruffling feathers because he set the rules instead of playing by them.

Okay then, what if Elton John required all his roadies to be queer, or Michael Jackson required all his roadies to be black... wait, never mind... child molesters, or 50 cent required all his roadies to be black? Discrimination is discrimination.

Of course discrimination is discrimination, I never indicated otherwise. When in Rome and all. If dude prefers eating a hamburger to getting paid to be on tour, that's his choice. As adults, we can let him stand by his decision.

This isn't really newsworthy, this is another case of media finding something I find notably silly and blowing it up into another "boy, aren't those people who don't agree with us petty?" moment while larger issues at play go ignored.

Tabloid banter continues and people pretend it matters.

As a liberatarian, would you rather an official department stepped in and interfered in Sir Paul's business?

Actually, it was just Uncle Ted's weekly editorial that he writes for the Waco newspaper about all things related to the politics of hunting and hunter's rights.

And no, I would prefer that all people have the right to hire/fire whomever for any reason whatsoever, regardless how much I disagree with their choice. That goes for renting properties, etc... I find racism to be about the most despicable form of human behavior there is, but government restriction on individual liberty is worse, IMHO. BTW, racism, at least my working definition of it is about action, not attitudes. Prejudice is an attitude, bigotry is an attitude, racism is the working out of that attitude w/ an action.

If Nugent ever caught one of his roadies drinking or smoking pot (as roadies are wont to do), he'd fire them. Perhaps they should set up a roadie exchange program; it's win/win !?!

Here's the difference. Smoking pot is illegal. Eating hamburgers is not.

If he fired them for drinking on their own time, that's bad. If he fired them for drinking while on the clock...different story.

Don't really understand why it's OK to condone one form of discrimination, but not another.....

If it was a stipulation of employment he's within his rights.

Eat a burger, lose your job.

There's not one bit of discrimination in this equation.
