I NEED HELP WITH MY AMPS!!

Post by Austin_Taunt »

Here is the deal... My setup is a MesaBoogie Dual Rec 1x12 Combo and a Vox AC15 1x12. I use an ABY box to switch between amps. The problem I have now is that the MESA has horrible feedback when I have the gain channel on. It has never had that problem before. Even when I switch over to the Vox I have to switch off the gain channel to stop the squeal. Like I said...I could leave my gain channel on all day and never have a feedback problem. Could this be b/c of a ground loop?? Would a hum eliminator stop this??

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Have you tried a MESA faq's, forum or help on the web?

Maybe someone else has had this problem.

What kind of AB/Y do you have, Austin? I've used Star Touch, Morley and Lehle (Lehle's are a bit more expensive).

I use the Morley ABY box. I've searched around a little bit to see if others have this problem but I really havn't had much of a chance b/c I've only had the Vox since Tuesday.(thanks Nick Thieme@Guitar Center)

Try messing with the angles of the two amps or set them further apart from each other. If the Mesa doesn't feedback when the Vox isn't hooked up, then it must be picking up signal from the Vox somehow.

You might also just turn down the gain on one or the other - or both. It sounds to me like the signal is just too hot with the other amp hooked up.

My guess is the mesa's gain is too high and it's picking up the Vox and feeding back.

Have you tried a different guitar as well?

Did you check the variable input on the flux capacitor?

I figured out what some of the problem was...I had my amps in front of a TV. Once I moved them they quited down alot!! Still getting a little bit of a hum but that is easily taken care of... Thanks for the help!!!

Television....the scourge of society.

Another example of how the boob tube stifles musical creativity ( I believe MTV was the first, if not the best example.)
