The way I understand it to be at Legends is the only time they cut from the door to pay me or "the door witch" (that's the PG rated name for her) is when less than 75 people pay cover. When its over that, Heopp foots that expense and the band gets all that money plus a tab. When less than that pay, $100 comes out for sound ($75 for me and $25 for stage) and $40 comes out for the witch. If there's anything left over it goes to the band.

Like I said earlier though, I don't deal with the money but that's how it was explained to me from Heopp.

I just can't believe this thread has gotten this long and it all started because of a rock star that only made $200. boo hoo
I'd sh*t a brick if we got $200 from legends! (and not tell anyone else).

There's too many "IF's" in this equation

I just found out that a certain band (name rhymes with FIDELL) was actually done a favor from Legends to even have their show. Someone from the band talked to Kevin one week prior about needing a venue and Kevin went out of his way and moved some stuff around on the calendar so they could play on that night.

So in turn, you bash the bar. Now that's Class!

Kevin also told me that he agrees to sign any contract but if he does he wants specific wording in it. If he is gonna gaurantee your band, you have to gaurantee something back....LIKE THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE YOU BRING IN!!!! He can't sign it if you don't show it to him. Quit complaining about it if your not doing anything....

YOU KNOW A LOT OF COOL PEOPLE COME TO THIS SITE AND POST REALLY GOOD/ INTELLIGENT COMMENTS.... TOO BAD A FEW %@^$%^$#$ HAVE TO TAINT THE WATER IN WHICH WE ALL DRINK! THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT HOLD BACK OUR MUSIC SCENE!!!!

well, my comment earlier about the venue stays the same. I was informed that we had a certain amount of people. As I said before, I don't really care about the money, but if there is cash to be made then friggin' A.

One thing I am tired of is people getting their panties in a twist b/c someone criticizes a venue or a band because they're pissed off. You know what? It's just the basic BS you get with being in a band. I'm the lead singer of one of the bands that played at Legend. I personally would play there again b/c I had fun. The sound guy was good, I had no probs with him at all. I didn't say anything negative, and I never will. But don't say negative $hi+ like 'it's all about the money', or 'notice the only ones B!tchin are the crappy bands that should be thankful to just have a gig.'

Ya' know I've heard people say support the local music scene, when I've seen people tear it down limb from limb. I'm tired of it.

Chris B, you are a good sound guy. I had no problems, it just sucked that I was only regulated to outside or the stage, but that's the rules, and my guitarist and I didn't say $hi+.

Truthfully, every band in Fort Wayne sounds $hi++y to somebody else, but that's what we call VARIETY. Almost every fortwayne band I've heard is good (xcept a few that I will not mention b/c I respect musicians)

Can't we all just get along.

chris b who did who a favor.... your band for that day backed out..... we guaranteed at least 100 people, we kept our end 169!!!!! by the way Fidell had nothing to do with this article.... get your facts straight!!! i also heard thru the grapevine that even Chris Shaffer cancelled this establisment!!! we aren't complaining about compensation.. we're complaining about the shady practices thats obviously has been going on for some time! a Verbal agreement is how most Fort Wayne business owners like to do business... But at least they keep thier agreements... not say thank you guys saved our asses now bend over!

For once, I'm glad I'm in a cover band!! (DEFINATELY not bragging) I can't imagine playing for less than $600 a night! My hat is off to all you guys/girls for taking this crap from Legends!!!!!!!!! We'd pay an original band 200 bucks to open a show...plus free drinks... Maybe that's what you guys/girls should do. Find a cover band that is "similar" to your original style and approach them about openning a show. Set up merch and go for it!!!!!!

Have a great, musical day!!

I enjoy the fact that the original poster had to be "sneaky" and sign-in with a new account to complain about all of this. Wanna talk about shady practices? How about having to hide your already psuedo-anonymous identity on an internet message board to whine about getting paid for playing original music on a weekend in a bar. No matter what the amount is, you still got paid. I can count, on two hands, the number of paying gigs we've had in the past 5 years. Stop crying about this. Aren't you metal guys supposed to be a bit less whiny and a bit more grizzled?

We have played legends more than anyone on this board ask Kevin, Chris b, and Chris. They have always paid us good !!! Sometimes on the low side when the place was not packed and we have made up to 300 bucks too playing legends.

Im just sick of hearing all the bullSh1t about legends. They are one of the only bars to let non cover bands play on a weekend. So quit your bitching please!!!!!! Like Chris says they wont miss you guys playing away!!

I like legends and they are a fair when it comes down to the money !!
