STOP!! heh...ok...it is probably better now...it had some hardcore security holes in it about 6 months ago when I was using it. Jacked a few systems that I had it on. I think it was the culprit with the board problems...yes that bad of security holes...

anyway...if it starts to act wacky it is a stand alone update so it is easily removed through add/remove programs.

Good luck...

QWETTY: IE7 has tabbed browsing...

Firefox...more issues again lately. Until they are FULLY supported when browsing the web for certain business applications I can't rely on them 100%.

Wether it is poor coding on the part of a business website or whatever...FireFox must be able to display things regardless in order to be a viable product. As well...I have yet to get a single machine running FireFox to retain an installation of Macromedia flash. So there are several sites that I visit that I have to download and install it EACH time I go to that page...I am done using it for those sites...therefore I must use IE...

Hmmmm...I forgot that MS even had a browser...been using Safari and Mozilla/Firefox for so long...

Plus, we are just talking about a browser...not much excitement of getting a "new" one anyways!

No...it isn't 'my system' it is the software's inability to conform to HTML standards or interpret the code properly. I am not saying that the code is written perfect on all sites either, but the browser should adapt as needed. As well a large number of places that I 'surf' use software designed for the mass markets and are not going to spend dime one making sure .5% of the market has access...

I like FireFox...don't get me wrong, but I don't have time to fight with page layout in order to print shipping labels and make sure the money went in the right accounts.

From Wiki:
Users switching from Internet Explorer sometimes find that certain websites do not render as expected in Firefox. This though, is rarely a Firefox-specific problem and is usually caused by the respective websites using code that does not adhere to W3C standards — such as code specific to Internet Explorer, utilizing ActiveX controls or VBScript scripts, which are both proprietary Microsoft technologies and are not W3C standards.

There is a Firefox extension called "IE Tab" that allows the Internet Explorer rendering engine to be embedded into Firefox on the Windows platform. This aims to solve rendering issues for those pages that use Microsoft specific technologies, but it puts the user at risk from vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer.[6]

Heh...computer geeks (and I am one myself) normally take great offense when you tell them their system is to blame, because as any computer geek knows, it is never their system:) And I think this is seen a lot more with computer geeks that are MS fanboys...

Granted, Mac guys are pretty weird too, but they are hardly the type of in-your-face, my way is the best, everyone else is wrong, that MS guys normally are...

MS dominates the market, so there is obvious relevance there, but I think that is mostly because people are too dumb (or just not informed enough) to realize there are better options out there for some jobs...MS isn't the only option and in many cases, performs worse than others...

And I have to back up SM6 here...a lot of sites tailor to IE specific stuff, because the standards that should be used didn't work well with IE in all situations...hopefully, with browser marketshares evening out, we will get back to the standards and webmasters will follow them!

I use Opera (www.opera.com)
It's free, it's been around since the dawn of time, it's the most secure browser out there, it's had tabbed browsing since before Firefox was even an idea, it can install plugins for just about any kind of content (so IE specific pages will render correctly), it has very intelligent ad blocking, you can customize it with skins and moveable/removable toolbars, it has a nice download manager, and it even has a plugin you can download that will speak highlighted text in that robotic synth voice at the push of a button.
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 1000 character limit

HTML is [u]OFF[/u]
[u][url=http://www.fortwaynemusic.com/boards.new/faq.php?mode=bbcode]BBCode[/url][/u] is [u]ON[/u]
Smilies are [u]ON[/u]

I have used mozilla and just didnt like it, I have been using IE since dinosaurs roamed and yes now it does have tabs.

The everyone else vs. Microsoft battle will never end, it all comes down to personal preference and familiarity.

I agree, it does all come down to personal preference...which means that any arguments that say one is better than another are just personal opinions, not facts!!!

I could careless if everyone uses IE or Mozilla or Dillo or anything else...just don't be telling ME that your preferred browser is better than mine...
