Guitar Hero II

Post by sharkmansix »

This November 'Guitar Hero 2' will be coming out. While I'm not a fan of the game; it seems almost everyone else is.

So what songs should be on GH2? So far this is what has been leaked:
Arterial Black - Drist

Psychobilly Freakout - The Reverend Horton Heat

Strutter - KISS

War Pigs - Black Sabbath

Who Was in My Room Last Night - The Butthole Surfers

You Really Got Me - The Kinks, as performed by Van Halen

YYZ - Rush

John the Fisherman - Primus
My suggestion:

'Eruption' Van Halen - talk about crushing and short.

The game isn't bad, but it gets boring after a while cause it's pretty easy.

I've only played a few songs on the game ever. I knew from that I'd get bored with it really fast, because I'm really into a much more challenging game called beatmania IIDX.

I mean, imagine doing something like this:

with this controller:

Now compare that to the hardest chart on Guitar Hero. And by the way, that's not even close to the hardest chart on IIDX. =P

Actually the first song I played was "Take Me Out" on medium, and I passed it. The whole game is like an easier version of "Amplitude" with a special controller. Guess you haven't played that one either though, since it's electronic music and not ROCK AND ROLL

Here's something on a related note. I spoke with the president of GH's publisher, RedOctane for the games site that I write for, and he pretty much confirmed other "Hero" games are on the way:

Non-Guitar 'Hero' Games 'Very Likely'

Guitar Hero publisher RedOctane tells Next-Gen.Biz that non-guitar "Hero" games are "very, very likely," and online will play a "huge" role in the company's future software; also, higher-end guitar controllers possible.

When asked what RedOctane holds in store beyond Guitar Hero, president and co-founder Kai Huang said, "The next logical step within this category is to make other music instrument-based games. What most people have been asking for and would want next are products that we're likely already working on."

He added, "[There's] a very, very high likelihood of additional Hero games."

Although RedOctane does plan on expanding beyond the guitar, Huang stated that his company will "continue grow, evolve and build" its star franchise, Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero II for PS2, which is being developed by Harmonix, is due to hit shelves this fall in time for the Christmas rush.

Guitar Hero fanatics would also be interested in the possibility of new, higher-end guitar controllers.

Huang said, "What we are investigating is the possibility of doing additional guitars, not only in different colors, but potentially shapes, and higher-end guitars that might be more closely aligned with a real guitar, rather than the current Guitar Hero guitar."

So will we see some mahogany guitar remotes?

Huang laughed, "I don't rule that out."

So far, outside of the standard black guitar, RedOctane has only released one different style, which is the cherry red SG.

As RedOctane games are music-based, the sharper graphics of next generation consoles aren't as much of a focus as their online capabilities.

"We will [utilize online features]," Huang said of next generation software. "As far as games like Guitar Hero and other music games that we have in the pipeline are concerned, I think there are going to be significant changes to the gameplay.

"Online is definitely going to be a huge component of what we're planning, whether that's downloading new music or characters or skins or online play features, those are the things that are really going to be the major changes for next-gen."

There's some good marketing! Accessories are always a good angle to exploit! Who wouldn't want a guitar-remote that suits them?
