you know how they do all those "catch the molester" things on dateline? guys go to a young girls house expecting to get a lil actyion from a 13 yr old and then... "boom" arrested...

what they need to do is set up these young girls to see how many of them show up. Yes older guys who do this are weirdos... but the girls who are involved also need to get in trouble. THEY had intent j/ like the man but j/ becus they are "to young to know right form wrong" means they dont get in trouble.

thats funny... the words "too young"

15 year old girl is considered to young to know what she is getting into when she meets a 40 yr old man she meets on myspace. She is unpunishes, while at the same time (in florida a couple yrs ago) a 15 yr old boy does a wrestling move on a kid and the kid dies... he goes to jail for life.. FOR LIFE!?!?!

what is too young?
You say youre 15 'eh?

I don't know Ollie, the kid's got a point in there, it just wasn't worded in the most acceptable of fashions.

Man, my parents knew everything about where I was and what I was doing, because they asked me and I told them. That, and my mom knew things that I have no idea how she possibly could.

One time, the one time I went unheard from for more than a couple hours, they called the cops and all of my friends to try and find me (I was makin' out, but it was like 2 a.m. on a school night, stupid mistake). Anyways, my friend Jonathan pulls up to this girl's house and tells me to get my ass home, I do. My dad was furious, my mom was worried sick, I was grounded for two months, I was 17, I had to call the police and explain to them what happened and apologize for being an idiot. You may see this as over-protective parenting and kinda scary. Its not, its love and caring, and I would rather of had too much love than my parents not caring where I was or what I was doing.

Mine were the same way. They knew all of my friends and all of my friend's parents and there was no way I was getting away with anything! I hated then, but now I appreciate it and plan on being the exact same way with my daughter. Too many parents want to be their kids best friend. Your kids have plenty of friends; they need a parent!

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to be friends with your kids. I just think you have to know where the line is so you can still be a good parents. I consider my parents as friends and considered them as friends growing up, but I knew when it was "parent" time!

ditto the 'rents being in the know.

there is NOTHING wrong with having an active interest in your child's life. in fact, it should be mandatory. today parents too easily step away from ANY role of responsibilty. they expect children to raise themselves somehow.

man, i don't even want to get started on this. i can feel the anger welling inside. many of today's parents are absent from the lives of their children and then wonder why they don't grow up with any respect or any sense of the way to behave.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

even as a "young person" i agree with this whole parent talk. I was raised so i would know what to do in certain situations... these things called morals??? (lol) my parents dont need to know where i am 24/7 because they trust me and they want me to learn from my mistakes, what would be the point of never getting in trouble? so your ignorant your whole life? lol... thanks mom/dad!

Without truly knowing, I feel pretty certain that you deceived your parents more than once throughout your 18 or so years under their care. Instead of placing blame on victims, what I'm saying is place the blame on the... SEXUAL OFFENDER! You can conjure up all the reasons why the mother should've known every exact prognosticating detail, but ultimately, neither of them committed a crime. When someone doesn't committ a crime and someone committs a crime against them, that makes them a victim. Blaming them with your magical powers of hindsight is blaming the victim. Now wuteva, I'm outta this. Have all ya'll psychics.

Sure he's to blame I don't think anyone is saying he should walk.

The thing people are calling for is responsibility. The internet should be treated like a loaded gun in the house; and it's unfortunate that usually it is used as another tool to shut kids up.

How is Myspace to blame here. Would you blame a library for the books it contains even if some of that information is potentially dangerous?

The internet is a dangerous tool and if you don't have the personal responsibility to use it properly; maybe you shouldn't be using it.
