If you want the best, you have to spend a little more. I play DR high beams on my 5-string. B# will order them for you, so you don't even have to visit the great Satan (GC) to buy them.

o i dont care to much about the price... bass strings dont need replaced as often as guitar strings so there usually worth paying more.
ya the slinkys sound much more "twangy" than my old ones (iforget their names ahh)... i kinda wanted a deeper richer sound

I made the switch from Ernie Ball's to DR Nickels about seven months ago and I haven't looked back. I broke one string because I put them on wrong (you don't need to stretch them!) and have not had any problems since. They last for years too!

If you want a deeper tone, don't get the DR high beams, go with the DR Lo-Riders instead. Same quality, different tone.

Man I bought some Thomastik Infields as my last pair on my four string. They are really great strings. I'm a huge fan of DR's as well (Marcus Miller Fat Beams) but these are easier on your fingers for long gigs. They feel really smooth(D'Addario's) but get that brightness associated with stainless steel(DR's) and they're easier on your frets. Try em out some time and then you decide.
