Just having fun at your expense---nothing more insulting than that. Keep in mind, however, that this is not directed at you as a person or an artist. I neither know you nor your music. But that's the nature of forums such as this. If you post, you may roast. Or be burned like toast.
OK, now I've just opened myself up with my weak attempt at being hip with rhymes.
Ollie? Are you there, me Lord? Your subject awaits your divine repramind with trembling knees.

I hope the band is still reading this thread, but here goes:
I have some great noise/experimental albums in my collection. What I've learned since my old four track experiments at the age of 15 is that to do noise successfully, you need to break away from the four-white-guys-with-guitars mentallity completely. Not everything can be distorted, and you need to vary emotions tempo, rhythms and decibels much more than you do in harmonic music. The listener's ear gets tired quicker if their brain is having to work overtime.

But...the previous post said something to effect of "It's just another way to make music."
I certainly don't begrudge anyone doing their own thing and I realize that there is alot of "music " that is not my cup of tea. But the thing that irritates the crap out of me are the 16 to 21ish year olds that just got their first guitar for their birthday 2 months ago and now they have "music" up on myspace rachat de crédit endettement. The digital music revolution has been one of the greatest gifts to musicians since the invention of the electric guitar. But...it has also given everybody who has a computer the ability make an "album" regardless of any musical ability. Back in the old days you got an instrument, learned how to play it for more than 60 days, played in some bands, learned all you could about the craft of songwriting, then maybe put down your efforts for the world to hear. And even then you were'nt sure if it was any good or not. And no, not all original music is awesome just because your buddy made it. Some music is just crap. Even bands that are signed to a major label can suck. Thats why they have cutout bins at record stores. So...I get a little irritated when Billy Smith makes a post that says "hey, we got new tunes on myspace and they rawk dudes. Go check it out!" And then I go take a listen and it sounds as though someone having a seziure has been duct taped to a drum kit, my 2 year old is ripping the strings off a fifty dollar guitar, and the vocals (if thats what it was) sound like someone is twisting the head off a cat with extra distortion added for that extra little sparkle. So...by all means, play your instrument, write songs, practice some more, and maybe some more, and record some stuff while your at it. But don't insult us all by telling us to check out your rockin tunes that suck more than a category 5 tornado. It's an insult to the people that actually spent the time and effort to learn their craft. I hope that does'nt sound to harsh but I'm on a rant.
Tell me I'm full of crap if you wish.
Thanks
KH
The music remains the music, but the digitization depends on each artist. It is not the music that has been saved, but those who listen. Well that's my point of view.
