Hence why I said to let him keep the money. We're not talking about a few thousand dollars here, but probably $30, tops. The one thing that implodes most bands is ego, and it's usually over stupid stuff (like four burned CD's).
There's principle, and there's standing stupidly for principle.
Unethical people are unethical people and if he'll rip you off for less than $30, he'll rip you off for $30K if given the chance.

Well....
a). We are assuming his actions were purposely unethical.
b). His actions will be repeated.
I have in my past done things that would be perceived as unethical. I don't think that makes me an unethical person, especially now. However, some people are convinced that a person is always one way or another throughout their entire lives...
I think everyone needs to chill a bit. I find it just as unethical to keep someone in a band just because "they are a good drummer".

I don't think he fully understood in the first place why it was wrong to sell the CDs. I don't consider him too be bright, and that brings me to the point that individual considerations do sometimes play a role in deciding the outcome of a situation like this. I'm sure some of you would fire your drummer in this case, and some would have to take more (for example, more info than I gave everyone in this thread) into consideration before doing it.

I wouldn't publicly air that fact unless you're wanting him to quit. That's the kind of statement that's gonna piss someone off fast, unless he's too stupid to use the internet or talk to people who have.

I was referring to his knowledge of copyright law and ethics. Everyone in the band is 18 years old, and I think many people this age don't usually consider some of these issues, or they are very new to them.

And he made a classic "Too vs. to" grammatical error when stating that his drummer wasn't bright. Irony?

On a side note, that is funny because I usually don't do that. I realize it happened because I originally meant to type "to be too bright"

you should allow everyone else in the band to sell 4 burnt cds and keep the money. maybe buy a pinata and fill it with candy. then have a party and not invite your drummer. SUPER BURN!!!
