I almost always put GHS Boomers on my basses. They're a little too high end at first but after a couple practices they sound right where I want them. I once tried some Fender strings on my jazz bass and I hated them. They sounded and felt more dead than my worn out strings (to me at least) and I replaced them in less than a week.

On my guitars it seems I always have used D'addario. Not sure why, probably for price and availability. I always played bass in bands so my guitars I didn't pay as much attention to. (shameful...I know)

On acoustic guitar, my friend put some Elixers (not sure who makes them off the top of my head) on and I like them fine. They seem to last awhile and that helps since I am the laziest in the world when it comes to wanting to change strings.

DR's are nice. I always liked the taperwound versions. Rotosounds aren't bad either.

I use ghs bass boomers lite.......Throw out the tiney G string.....and add a .125 for my low c. and basically string one string down. I use the E string for my A string (which I tune to g) ,The A string for my D string (tuned to c) the D string for my g string (tuned to F). I find this really good fore tuned down bass playing...no floppy strings here.
If I knew it was going to be that kinnda party...Id stick my d@#* in the mashed potatoes!
