Why doesnt anyone do THIS anymore?

I guess you could call it "Maynard-core."

I'd start a band in a heartbeat if I could find some guys who wanted to (and actually could) play "What Is Hip?" "I'm Looking Through You" and "Third World Man" in the same set. But seriously, would anybody book a band like that?

The Freak Bros. always did a kick ass version of 'What is Hip?'

(at least when i was mixing for them - not sure they still do it.)

The Bees Knees actually do a pretty good version of "Get It On"

I think you would be surprised who would see a band like you described.

I'll call it "Yuppie-core."

Which is not a pejorative when I use it, BTW.

I would (and can) be perfectly happy to participate in a band that played TOP, Steely Dan, E,W,&F, etc...
