He has talent, he just uses it sparingly (Mathstick Men and Adaptation were the last two times I recall).

(I don't have a seven year old, but that's my normal gauge for my kids)
Saw it with my kids. Nothing horribly objectionable that I can remember - no language, nudity, Gore - blood or Al.

Okay, this movie isn't Oscar material; but it is what I said it is - FUN. The whole fam enjoyed it.

C'mon, you don't think these hacks came up with that whole "Chain of Puzzles" thing by themselves. It could not be a more obvious rip.
No they probably got it from the slew of movies and books that came before it, just as the guy that wrote the Davinci Code did.

Are you saying that you can't see the resemblance between "The DaVinci Code" and "National Treasure?" because if you can't, your opinon on any aesthetic question isn't worth a nickle.

"Slew of movies and books" in that vein?

Name two.

I can only think of two. "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown and "The Templar Legacy" by Steve Berry. But I haven't read that many books.

Sure their is a resemblence, just the same that the Davinci Code bears a resemblence to movies that involve following clues. I'm not here to defend National Treasure as a cinematic masterpiece, but its no more a rip off of Davinci Code than Davinci Code is a rip off of other films of that Genre. Davinci Code didn't create the genre, they borrowed from other films and books just as Nat. Tres. did.

Raiders of the Lost Ark?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?

I have not seen the new National Treasue but that is what the first one reminded me of. I enjoyed it for what it was.
