NL batting champion Derrek Lee and the Chicago Cubs agreed to a $65 million, five-year contract.
I hear that the deal involves a no-trade clause as well.
Here's to 5 years with a super-star that won't throw his back out when he sneezes.
best news i've heard in awhile!!
I hated Lee for how well he played for Florida in the play-offs a couple years back.
Lee and Pudge both killed us that year. Both were unstoppable.
PREDICTIONS FOR TODAY'S GAME: (w/o knowing conditions)
A-Ram goes yard.
Cedeno has a monster day.

This message is for Greg Maddux (who I hear checks these boards daily):
I believe that tomorrow is your 40th birthday, and I just want you to know that you didn't look a day over 30 on that mound today. Thanks for always being there for me. I love you. Can we finally meet in person?!?.....What is your MySpace! We were meant to be together forever!

you might be a little off on this one. barrett's already got 3 HR and 13 RBI. I'll say .282 / 28 / 82
He's killin' the ball right now.

i hope you're right! he has the potential to hit 30...and not in a rick wilkins kinda way either.
what do you think murton will do? he's kind of the wild card right now.

I think he will be steaky. He has the potential to be one of the premier young guns in the league, but I think it might be little too soon. Don't get me wrong. I love the guy, but I think he will be .279 / 22 / 72
He's gonna be real good.

I think 20-5 / 2.31 ERA / 210 K CY YOUNG
actually that is a prayer to God.

zambrano could be the pitcher you describe above...and im sure he will be, soon as the cubs trade him to the braves. oh god.
id say....16-9/2.70/210k no CY yet, but probably an all-star

i NEVER forget.
...by the way, wtf ever happened to cd landrum? something like 27 stolen bases in 30 at bats...never to play again? i figured he'd become the best pinch runner ever.
