Dear MoveOn member,
Acclaimed progressive filmmaker Robert Greenwald just released his latest movie, Iraq for Sale, and it's a doozy. It's a blistering expose about war profiteering, and, five weeks before an election hinging on Iraq, it's a movie everyone needs to see.
Where can you watch this groundbreaking film? Actually, at your house—if you're willing. There's no corporate distributor pushing Iraq for Sale into theaters, so we're holding hundreds of local screenings the weekend of October 14th and 15th (that's the weekend after next). And we won't just watch—we'll do something to end this mess by making calls to key voters through Call for Change.
We know folks in Fort Wayne want to see the film and make calls, but that can only happen if someone offers a place to gather. If you can host, we'll send you a totally free copy of the film, invite other folks from your area, and give you the simple instructions you need to host a great screening.
To watch the Iraq for Sale trailer and sign up to host, click:

Hosting is easy—all you need is a TV, a DVD player, a printer, and a place for folks to make calls from their cell phones.
Iraq for Sale exposes how big corporations like Halliburton are defrauding the government, wasting billions of our tax dollars, and underserving our troops—and how their Republican cronies in Washington are making it all happen. And the story is all told through shocking, first-hand testimonies from the workers, contractors, and soldiers who saw it happen.
The movie's getting great reviews—it even got a 100% rating from the review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com.1 Here are a few samples:
"This time [Greenwald] is focused on one of those issues that might unite viewers across all political spectra: unconscionable war profiteering coupled with catastrophic decisions by major American companies."2
–The Los Angeles Times
"Both a trenchant indictment of war profiteering in Iraq and a memorial for those not included in the military's death toll, Iraq for Sale is a work of intense disillusionment; the wounds are fresh and the testimony of civilian contractors and their bereaved family members is appropriately raw."3
–The Villiage Voice
"Like his other films (Wal-Mart: The High Cost Of Low Price; Uncovered: The Whole Truth About The Iraq War) it's carefully researched, and it's crucial to fully understanding the Iraqi/American enterprise."4
– TV Guide
These failures in Iraq are the inevitable consequence of a rubber-stamp Republican Congress that puts the profit of their corporate backers ahead of our national security and common sense. To end this nightmare, we've got to do two things: get out the truth and win these elections.
If you can host a screening the weekend of October 14th and 15th, you can help do both.

Just got a call last week, my stepbrother is now one of those "evil contractors" working in Tikrit. He's on his way, should be on Iraqi soil by tomorrow (if not already).
And why is he doing it? The money is damn good, but it's to put his son who was recently diagnosed as autistic into a program to help him. Sucks that he has to do this, but this is the quickest way to get some help for his kid.
Anyone who thinks contractors are NOT risking their lives over there....I'd love to have an objectful discussion with them.

^ They totally are risking their lives; plus they cannot carry weapons.
I have nothing against the guy working a job trying to make a buck, it's the big mega-corporations that need to be looked at...
