Beforehand: this is not an attack on you, just an observation off of your point.
and I appreciate that
So I wonder if there were as many attacks around the world before we declared war? Or are we hearing more about them since it became a media focus?
Here's a decent link that briefly shows attacks around the world
pre 9/11 vs after 9/11.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_te ... dents#1983
it was not in the headlines....but there was no offical "war on terror".
yes! terrrorism wasn't in our radar before, and the public wouldn't have
backed up going to war before 9/11.
The 9/11 commission declared(which I agree)
that both adminstrations did their share of botching this up. (Remember
Bush was in office for 8 months before the event and had the same
information passed on from Clinton.)

Neither of them (and also the General Public), had the stomache
that's needed to attack this at the time.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself very well here,..

Not sure I care anymore if Bin Wheat (picture Buck Wheat &
Bin Laden morphed into one) is dead or alive.
The prez of Iran right now is more of threat IMHO.

(Hope my slight criticism of Bush doesn't interere with
my new "Rightie" label) :P

But do you think he has the powerful influence he does because of this botched 'war on terrorism' / Iraq? Did Sadaam keep some (possibly) worse people in line with his reign?

I'll give in a little on that, but.
MMmmm....more because of the division that he observes in
our media over how we are handling it. In the beginning we had
the resolve, now I believe if we waver on this, he becomes
more emboldened and feels that we wont/cant do anything
about it. He perceives this as another victory against
the "Great Satan". the weakness of the UN is used against
us in this situation.

Thanks for the link. Which I accidently deleted in the above quote. haha. Anyways, i wouldn't pull too much from that page, as I would still wonder if terrors attacks are higher (and increasing) in the last few years because of more focus on terrorism in general. Though I had a feeling there would be a change from when the "war on terror" began, and before it was actually labeled as such.
