just to be clear. . .i wasn't disputing, so much as wanting to see the statistics. i find it makes the argument more credible, and educates me at the same time.

and. . .in addition to that. . .anyone who has taken a statistics class or read a book on statistics knows that results of polls in this nature can be close to meaningless unless you also include other demographic information about the population used for the quantative comparison.

if these polls were not taken from a population that was a true representation of the census ratio of classes, races, religions, etc., then the results will still be weighted.

Again, not denying the results here, but providing a little grain of salt with which to take the info.

The Zogby link has a breakdown - also, his are generally considered among the most accurate polling numbers out there. Highly respected and generally known for avoiding leading questions and not misconstruing poll numbers to suit his political views, which aren't really known, as it should be...

As anyone who's ever studied statistics and/or political science knows, you can make a poll say whatever you want by asking the right questions or picking from the right pool of respondents. Zogby is generally known for not doing that sort of thing.

For instance, in 2000 and 2004 while CNN/ABC/NBC, etc... were citing various polls, both campaigns were using Zogby's polls during strategy meetings.

For me, it's because kids make stupid mistakes. I know that no one is saying they can't attend college; but this makes it even more difficult for someone who might have turned their life around if they need assistance
(and who doesn't anymore when it comes to tuition?)

Don't think of it as a hand out but rather a helping hand up.

The taxpayers are shelling out $20G a year for you to go to college and you're smoking weed or worse, which negatively impacts your ability to focus on your education. I don't think you should get your education paid for.

I would agree marijuana can make you lose focus but it doesn't mean you're not thinking. I know quite a few pot-head that have excellent jobs and live very rich, education filled lives.
