It's funny that he describes your sound pretty well, then proceeds to rip it apart. Obviously it's not his cup of tea, but it sounds to me like the album is exactly what you were going for, so screw him and his opinion.

I always enjoyed getting bad reviews. Sometimes the people writing the reviews don't seem to know a damn thing about music so it makes it even more entertaining. It's hard to take a bad review to seriously if you're doing something that you like anyways. That's the point of music isn't it? Creating music exactly like you want it? I always thought it was.
That's cool you guys have sold 7 cds out of it though...bad press sells too!
"My friend says he wants to die. He's in a band, they sound like Pearl Jam, the clothes are all black and the music is crap."

Even though he smacks you guys around a bit, he says a couple of things in there that are pretty complimentary too..."a dense sound many a four piece band would be pushed to beat" ..."refreshing in a world of overly produced music" ..."the duo hail from Indiana, USA".
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have...one guys opinion.
Yeah, with all the complimentary things that he had to say, it's really evident that it's just not his thing, even though he respects what you've done.
as far as I read, it seemed that he didn't even know who the vocalist was.
In my honest opinion, while your albums are just fine, you have to see you guys live to fully respect what you guys do. I have never in my life enjoyed watching/listening to a group much like i do you guys. I especially always loved sharing a stage with you guys.

word to someones mutha.
Live on stage perhaps...I was just watching it tonight before I stopped here and now heading to bed...you guys are always great in my book...and it isn't about the reviews...it is about the music and having a damn good time..
Having never seen you two before tonight...(I know, I should get out more) I really enjoyed what I heard. I suggest you do like Elliot Ness did in The Untouchables...take that first bad review and hang it on a bulletin board...then surround it with all the good ones that will surely come your way.
Honestly, I've always said that I'll gladly welcome the "Love me, or hate me" attitude, when it comes to someone's opinion on my tunes; If someone hates my sound, that's cool, at least I know I'm consistent & true to what I believe in. It's the "fence-rider" review, or "yeah, you're 'ok' that really stings".
LLC rocks, in my opinion. If someone doesn't like their sound, that's cool, too. If 100 people review someone's music and 50 of them "Love it" and 50 of them "Hate" it, isn't that better than 80 of them saying it was just "ok"? or not too bad?............You're typically not going to reach all audiences & if you do, then you've more than likely made absolutely no "major" impact on them, and are probably just "ok", in a tolerable sort of way, to everyone.
If you only get one bad review in your career it means you didn't have a long enough career. I say this is just the beginning for LLC. More bad reviews are to come but I'd say they will be easily eclipsed by the number of positive reviews in the future....especially by folks who are into your style.
And like I told you the other day Brenn, when you're ready to conquer Norway, just let me know.
