TOUR SCAM

Post by Recordstar »

Various music trade magazines are running an advertisement soliciting bands / booking agents / promoters for a "Coca Cola Midwest Amateur Tour" requiring a $5000.00 cash surety bond. Once you respond by phone, they send a letter on Coca Cola letterhead explaining the "project". However, the letterhead is from the Coca Cola Scholarship Foundation Office which has nothing to do with promotional entertainment operations. Additionally, the letter has an unsigned signature block. I contacted Coca Cola Corporate Offices in Atlanta, GA, and was assured that "Coca Cola" is not engaged in any promotion for a "Midwest Amateur Tour" or any entertainment tour of that nature.. I have forwarded a copy of the letter to the Better Business Bureau and made them aware of this scam.

Thanks David! This is good information to have on the site. I'm surprised the magazines didn't check this out better before publishing their magazines with this ad in it.
