One of the big warning buzzers for me is that you don't really make much money on people downloading music; but rather the real bank is in signing up new users.
I hope it successful and huge but until it starts offering something iTunes doesn't I'll stick to the apple. Plus I wanna see some of their (Burnlounge) numbers but I couldn't find anything on their site.

I really don't understand this "non-exclusive licensing" thing. Usually when you enter into a licensing agreement there are conditions and limitiations in the licensing provisions. Therefore "non-exclusive" is an oxymoran. If you want more information on licensing contact me via my Email: foxgrovemusic@verizon.net.
1. Has Burnlounge presented you with any track record figures??
2. Ted Nugent probably (and I say "probably") has licensing restrictions via his major record label and publisher.
3. I am based in Ft. Wayne having recently relocated back here from KY/TN.
4. I am an ASCAP publisher and have placed material with both major and indie labels and artists. Check MySpace.com/foxgrovemusic
5. Reputable venues..? companies that have a proven track record in the industry.
6. Why haven't I heard of you before in the trades..??
7. Regarding Fontana Records..contact UMG like I did.
8. Hooray for sharkmansix!!! He puts it pretty much in a nutshell as to their operation. But then.....good luck in your endeavor.

1. Yes, reputable venues. You made mention of reputable venues to place my music. I don't know of any, nor do I have the "in" that you have. Can you provide this information so that I may make it into the trades? Then you can hear of me there.Recordstar wrote: 5. 2. Probably 'cuz I've not been in the trades. Never been thrown that kinda bone before. Can you help? I've been playing music all my life in this town and we've never crossed paths. I just figured we would have by now.
3. Why would UMG take my call? OR rather, would UMG take my call?
4. Thanx.
5. Are you looking to work with local bands in Fort Wayne?
I'd really like to meet with you. I simply don't have the education in this field that you have. I'll shoot you an email.
Peace,
Shawn

Ok, first off, everyone should contact Recordstar and communicate with him one on one!!
THIS IS THE GUY WHO CO-WROTE "GREEN, GREEN GRASS OF HOME" FOR TOM JONES IN THE 60'S!!!
I had a great hour long conversation with him. Dude's been everywhere and worked with some of country music's greats!!! Contact this guy!!!
Secondly, I wanna clear up two things:
1) Burnlounge does not "license" your music in the traditional sense. In other words, you sign no exclusive agreements with Burnlounge, so that you an offer your music on any other download sites, music stores, adn at your shows. The "non-exclusive" is an agreement, not a liscensing deal.
Someone please educate me regarding CDBaby and iTunes, because I was told that these two do not allow you to offer your music elsewhere on line. Does any one know if that's true?
and. . .
b) Burnlounge is not a music publisher. It is a retail outlet. In fact, you need to show proof of ownership and I believe publishing before they will make your music avaible on their program.
Again, go watch the commercial on my burnlounge site (http://www.burnlounge.com/EXALTernative) and if you are interested, please contact me at Migraines@juno.com
Rock on,

Shawn..BIG CORRECTION...!!! The writing of Green, Green Grass of Home was co-authored with Curly Putnam (who holds the copyright) and Jack Vaughn...and was definately a team effort with two of the most outstanding writers in country music. But I don't advise using the same writing techniques we did. It's too hard on the liver!!!
Shawn:
I agree that this approach is the future of the music industry in general, even if I am not sure about the specifics of this company.
I don't see the major labels crumbling, as they have the distribution, the love/hate symbiotic relationship with radio, and the money; but I see their commitiment to fringe artists fading as they shoot for more mass appeal, and the indies flee to self-publishing sites such as this. It also means in the future, there will be LESS of a chance to make a decent living at music, as recording becomes something anybody can do at home.
The people on here have raised some serious red flags to consider. I hope this thing is legit, and this is truly the wave of the future. Right now, your emphatic defenses sound like the rantings of a Christian friend of mine who was sucked into the Scamway spiel. Tread carefully, my friend.

I appreciate your concerns. Thanx.
I gotta say that I am anything but emphatic. The proper word would be excited. I am however, defending burn lounge. There's too many people's reputations at stake for me to doubt this.
The "red flags" raised here aren't red flags to me. Funny thing is that the same people (not directed at anyone here, just in general) who have issue with burnlounge are the ones who are involved in cdbaby or iTunes.
It's kinda like people who can't give a nod to any other recording program but Pro Tools. I learned Logic first and like it better than PT. I learned Quark first and don't like Word. I'm not here to knock CDbaby or iTunes, I just like Burnlounge better.
I will have a really nice promo pack regarding everyone's concerns real soon. I'll either post it here or at very least post a link to it.
Time will tell, eh?
In the meantime, go check the commercial: http://www.burnlounge.com/exalternative
Peace,
Shawn
