And, it is already in the works as far as getting her out of that venue.
I think that a friend and I will be doing the promoting for that place and he will be supplying a P.A. It is all in the works as of now.
GIVE ME A BOTTLE OF JACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is wrong with a promoter taking 20% of bar sales? I was told the bands at this venue are taking 100% of the door. It is not right for you guys to be saying your going to conspire to have a promoter fired for trying to bring shows to a venue. This certain "local promoter" or any promoter should make their own deals with the bar, venues and press to get people out to the venue and if they make money off of it that means the venue made money.

I spoke directly with said promoter and she told me that she takes nothing from the bands. The bands get 100% of the door, which in Fort Wayne is a great deal. (Don't try to argue this, I've played all over the country and trust me this isn't a bad deal for local original bands who want to display their art.)

Said promoter is being payed by the bar, not the bands.

Seriously, I think you naysayers should:

1) Go play somewhere else

and,

2) Stop complaining about someone trying to help out Fort Wayne's music scene.

I've been a promoter for as long as I've played original music in this town. For anyone keeping track, that been since 1992. I will tell you that it's a lot of effort, hard work, and very time consuming to promote correctly. Lee knows this and has hired an inhouse promoter. This is very commonplace in larger cities, like say Chicago. Good luck getting a gig there without going through a promoter, who will most likely take a percentage of YOUR money, not the bar's.

It's honestly none of your freakin' business what she gets paid and by who as long as it doesn't affect your pay.

GO PLAY LOUD AND HARD AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE MINISCULE AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU'LL MAKE!!!

If your music is good enough, folks will buy your cds and shirts. That's what you need to worry about.

Ok, I'm stepping off my soap box.

If she's miscommunicating with bands about a PA that's another issue, but on the money with that post otherwise.

I will post my reply on jammerdirect.com

I can't believe you would delete my declaration of an agent taking 20% of the liquer sales being a growing standard. This site is only about admins ops and anyone who isn't on board gets deleted. Who do you guys think you are anyway? For you to conspire against a so called "local promoter" is wrong and if you don't like my opinion I will post it on JAMMERDIRECT so it's there for anyone who cares about an opinion other than yours to read and form thier own opinion about how bad this site is getting.

It looks like you are just plugging JammerDirect.com, which is a website that isn't even running yet.

So why don't you post your cry baby sh*t on that web site so only you have to read it.

We used to call the "in-house" talent buyers "Entertainment Directors" or "Talent Coordinators", not promoters. A promoter is one who approaches a venue with a "program" of entertainment, and makes a deal with the house for payment. Out of his cut, usually, the band is paid. On the other hand, a talent or booking agent is just that. He approaches the band and offers to book them in venue "X, Y, or Z" for an established percentage of the fee, usually 15 - 20% of the contract price the venue pays.
