Who comes up with this crap?

Post by Haggard »

I got this in a chain email showing pictures of the California fires.

Dear God,
Please keep them safe.
Please keep their families, pets, and homes safe.
Please convince people that no house is worth their lives, and that they need to evacuate when asked.
Please keep people off their cell phones so the firefighters can use the lines.
God, please let them all be okay.

It made me wonder who comes up with these silly ideas? My favorite part is the part about keeping people off their cell phones. I am sure God is just sitting there waving his hand above Blackberry users scrambling their signal so the lines remain free.

This is common in chain emails, silly off the wall use of ideas. Anyone have any to contribute?

It was probably written with all sincerity and conviction.

Although the delivery was questionable, the intent was most likely not.

I could see my mom writing this after watching CNN and hearing a Fireman asking the same request about the cell phones.

Moms are like that.

Why ask God to keep the cell lines clear?

Why not just ask him to stop burning California every year?

Why not listen to Nietzsche and realize that god is dead.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

I don't doubt the thought was sincere. Just absurd in delivery. My point is this is the only email I could reference, but there are countless others with the same type of people asking for prayers and thoughts towards causes you could in no way believe prayers could affect. To quote David Cross, this was written by "the people who base their identity on co-opting other people's pain".

There are so many other changes and things these same people could affect but given the free reign of the internet and the unbridled opportunity for nonsense why would they actually try to make a difference?

Sorry this is just annoying as hell, and the worst part is my family members send me this type of nonsense all the time.

This is even better than the anti-gay emails I get from my brainwashed catholic relatives.

edit : hahaha why does it change the word g.a.y. to queer after I post it?

And everyone knows that being gay is not NATURAL and it can be CHANGED...it just takes a little Christian intervention...lol....;)
