Manson was on drugs, as was his entire "family" - deadly combinations of barbituates and hallucinogenic drugs in fact. And there is some evidence that Hitler was addicted to amphetimines as well.

There's no denying the "Manson Family's" use of drugs. But these were used to reinforce Manson's emotional hold on his people. I know some of this as I when I was in High School I used to date Terry Fromm, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromm's sister and was quite close to the family. I also had the opportunity to visit Lynette during her incarceration outside Lexington, Kentucky. While she is still an adjunct Manson follower, she did confirm his psychological influence was overwhelming. And while he did use drugs, it was not to the extent he produced for his followers.
