I don't get it.
No advantage, which puts me in a better spot than most. I have nothing to gain from my beliefs which makes them more believable. Unlike Al Gore, who is profiting hugely from this, that make me weary.
Ha, but those at the top of top of the "movement" to push the agenda of environmental denial have the most to gain, BY FAR. It doesn't make your beliefs any more believable, just makes me suspect you are capable of leaving all reason behind in order to rationalize your political views.

The Mayans have been right in all of their other calendar predictions so there's a chance something important will happen on that day.

How many times do I have to address this?

We can't do sh*t to the planet. We are affecting our ability to exist on the planet. After we're extinct, the planet will go on for millions more years. . .we don't have the power to destroy the planet and it's pure arrogance and ignorance to think otherwise.

The planet has suffered NATURAL disasters a million times worse than what we have done in the last 200 years. . .hell. . .the last 60 years to be accurate.

It's pretty apparent to me that you people didn't pay ANY attention in your Earth Science or Geology classes because there's no way you'd have these opinions if you were educated in the facts. We may be damaging eco-system to the point that WE won't be able to live here (and a number of other species), but once we're gone, the Earth will shrug us off like a bad case of fleas.

Did this come from the same experts who issue the new elevated terror warnings? Just curious.

So, since it will outlast us anyway... we shouldn't do anything to make sure our exsistence last longer?

Perhaps our kids' kids exsistence?

The Earth probably will be here longer than all of us, and sure we may just be a phase it goes through.. but sh*t does that mean we have to pre-empt it?

Look I don't think we are destroying the planet. I think that people like Al Gore are in it for the money and fame. Hell he uses far more energy and creates far more polutents in one year that I will in ten. If he were really concerned, and I mean honestly concerned he would make the changes he is attempting to mandate on the masses. Instead he pays "carbon offsets" to a company that he is part owner of ( Generation Investment Management). That is the biggest load of sh*t. Than you got idiots like E.L.F. that go around and set Hummer dealerships on fire in protest, oh yeah that doesn't matter though cause they just claim to be on the correct side. Volcanoes put far more polutents into the air than my little sh*t box, or any other sh*t box I'll drive in the future. The simple fact is I don't believe it, call it lack of reason, lack of rationale, it just boils down to their are far to many holes in the logic and even more holes in the preachers of it.

I am all for recycling, conservation, and all that jazz..

But, yes, I do drive an suv, I also masturbate, and eat fatty foods too often.

What I absolutely am driven nuts by is this whole political arguement that "I" am destroying the world.

And maybe I am, but until the day you decide to become amish and give up cars, electricity, purchasing products mass manfactured in giant factorys and the whole general way of convient life you are accustomed to...

Stop pointing that forking finger at me. You are just as much responsible.

Yes, we should be conscious of our environment and the effects we have on it. But...anyone out there willing to stand on a soapbox and yell at me about it had better take that finger and point it at themself and ask "Am I really doing all I can?" Because if your not and your yelling at me, then you are a hypocrite.

Sorry, just a rant I had to blurt out.

on edit, I tried to fix my spelling and grammer but I gave up...it's a rant after all :D

Here are two fun ways to help reduce massive amounts of Greenhouse gases;

1. Cut down the rainforests.

2. Kill all the cows.

Stupid plants and animals f#cking up our environment. Yay for Radical Environmentalism for showing me the Way!

Where, anywhere in the above statement, do I make any such claim or arguable stance? I hate to commit a JoJo, but that's got to be one of the biggest straw-man arguments I have ever heard.

The arrogance of humans to think that they are going to cause the Earth to cease existence pisses me off to no end. People need to wake up and be honest with themselves and focus on the REAL issue which is our living environment (and the living environment of all viable life forms on the planet) and focus on that. You're not going to stop the natural degradation of the planet or adjust the natural and cosmic forces that act on it. Period. There is no irrefutable evidence that the alleged and widely unproven climate changes are due to any human interference.

Earth has gone through thousands of DRASTIC and CATACLYSMIC climate changes long before humans ever existed. More species have gone extinct in the history of our planet than currently exist on it. We've suffered ice ages, glacial shifts, magnetic reversal of the poles, tectonic plate shifting, and massive volcanic eruptions that have caused exponentially more damage to the planet than we could even imagine. I don't see any solid evidence that the climate is actually changing, and none of you have provided any, but take a look at a 6th grade Earth Science book and you'll find empirical evidence and study that supports the things I've stated time and time again. The perceived climate adjustments could be an entirely natural and humanly unrelated phenomenon.

I'm still at a COMPLETE and TOTAL loss to where that argument even scratches the surface of making a claim or argument that we should continue to trash our own living environment, and if that's what you get out of it, then you need to review your logic and critical thinking skills.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe actually having the facts straight before we set about destroying our economy and setting in place our eventual economic destruction by capitulating to these numbskull anti-capitalists and their chicken little agendas. This is all about getting more money from US taxpayers to give to poor nations and their corrupt dictatorial leadership. Otherwise explain how China gets left out of the Kyoto Protocol??? They are the 2nd largest contributor to so-called Greenhouse Gasses in the world, behind us, and they will take over 1st place within 10 years, yet they're not subjected to it???? Oh yeah, they're a nation of poor people, so they don't have any money to contribute to the "line Kofi Anan's pockets" cause.

If you're going with that principle (waiting on the facts) on topics like Global Warming, I'm pretty damn surprised. But then it feeds your agenda, so I'm not.

This is nothing more than a semantics argument. When people say we are destroying the planet, or some such phrase, what they are really saying is that we are destroying "our living environment (and the living environment of all viable life forms on the planet)." Not everyone can be such a gifted lexiphile. :D
