Clerks 2, a recommendation.....

Post by Massage...Bored »

See this film and see it now, I will be seeing it again tonight.

Randal's one minute reenactment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy is golden. "Its three movies of people walking!"

Dante is still the loveable loser.

Jay and Silent Bob are "new and improved", you'll have to see it to "believe" it.

Randal tries to take back an old racial slur for the whites.

Rosario Dawson is a great Smith-ian feamle lead character.

Surprisingly touching music montages, and a surprisingly touching film.

The new character, Elias, is absolutely the perfect virgin/christian/mod-compu-web dork. He's almost a "super" version of a Star Wars dork, yet he disregards that whole corner of dorkdom. His online handle, as we find out is Optimus Prime and has been for years. In the beginning he is excited because he just finds out they are making a live action Tranformers movie and he's in pole postion with his screen name and e-mail address come the following summer.

Great stuff, Mr. Smith.

it started off pretty f'n terrible though. but by the end i was absolutely converted. homeboy smith surprised my titties off with the depth of the human condition he got into. i can't say i've seen another film that quite kicks it like that.

this movie was great. Kevin Smith never disappoints me though.

yeah I want to see this movie badly. I'm not sure if I trust it though. The orignal was in black and white. I'm not sure if it'll be the same in color. :(

Was a GREAT movie. . .just not a traditional K.S. creation. If people go into that movie looking at it like it's supposed to be compared to mallrats or clerks or dogma, they will be disappointed. that movie had a GREAT story and captured the human condition just as well as Chasing Amy did. It moved away from the easy HaHa and delved into something more substantial.
There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary. . .

. . .and those who don't.

Was not a terrible movie. I don't remember it that well, and maybe I dug it because it was a Kevin Smith movie. I do remember there was a scene towards the end where Ben Affleck is rushing to NYC to see his kids play or whatever and "High" by the The Cure was played all the way through. Any movie that has a Cure song played alll the way through in it can't be bad.

I was thrilled as f**k when JLO died in the first 5 minutes though. HA! Come on...who gets JLO in a movie and kills her off that quick? Only Kevin Smith.

I've been criticized - many times - for saying that same thing ;)

Anyone who critisizes you for that needs to be shot. Or spare other people the effort, and shoot themselves. :)

Back on track ... Clerks 2 is phenomenal.

To answer a question posed earlier, yes a VERY small portion of the film is in black and white, but having the film in color didn't really detract from the movie. I too was skeptical at first, but honestly with the majority of the film set inside Mooby's, I think the color adds a lot. Mooby's interior has that vibrant yellow and purple that really makes the film pop out at you. I don't think it'd be the same in black and white.

The addition of Elias really puts this movie over the top. He is the ultimate cyber-nerd, and plays a great foil to Randal when Dante is off touching on some of the more human aspects of the film.

Pillowpants may be the greatest addition to the ViewAskewniverse since the Golgothan.

The entire Randal/Dante story really comes full circle. You're watching two guys who've been friends forever get ready to part ways. Anyone who's had a friend move across the country can identify with those feelings, and only Kevin Smith can use a donkey show to express the emotions of that moment.

Truly a cinematic epic on par with it's original. As a rule, I hate sequels, but this film just doesn't ever dissapoint.

Now I'm just waiting for Clerks 3: Clerks in Space.
