A friend just showed me this messenger program. Anyone familiar with it?

Trill?

Image

This sounds promising though:
Trillian is a multiprotocol instant messaging application for Windows created by Cerulean Studios that can connect to multiple IM programs from one client, such as AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Bonjour, Jabber, and Skype networks (the latter four with Trillian Pro which allows for additonal plugins).

I've used Trillian for years and love it.

You can link all of your e-mails, cell phones (to TM) & instant messenger programs to run from one program, making it way easier for unfocused Internet nerds like myself.

Yeah I have had it for about 6 years now...it lags on updates though...I have not used it for about a year or so as a regular solution....of course I don't chat much anymore either...it was a nice all in one interface.

I used it for a while but it is a memory HOG. Woudl slow down my startup to the point where I would set it up for a manual start since it took so damn long.

BTW, for my Mac I'm using Fire which seems to work nicely.

For something similar on Mac try Adium. http://www.adiumx.com/

Now I know this might not be an option for everyone, but the solution I have been using for quite some time is centericq in linux. You can connect to all your different messenger services...I have it running on my server at home, so no matter what computer I am on, Mac, PC, Linux, BSD...whatever, I just connect to my server and pull it up and have all my chat contacts...

Granted, it is text-based as it is run from the console, but I like it quite a bit.

Another open source option is gAIM...you can put your ICQ, Yahoo! and other accounts into it, plus have access to IRC all in the same app...

There is a client that runs on OSX under X11, but the developer does refer Mac user to Adium...

Hmmm...if I knew what an ignant man was, maybe I could do something to help:)

Everybody has their realms of expertise...I am working with software all day at work and then I have been a computer hobbyist at home for about 14 years...so computer jargon is second nature to me and I know that a few of the board members know what I am talking about...

Free time??? Nah, I am getting paid for the time I am on message boards:)

Maybe if this board had the handy spell check that www.deeksworld.com had , I wouldn't have overlooked that. Then again guys like you and Garr would not have someone to poke fun at for silly mistakes. Oh snap

Did you just type snap??? Crazy cat:)

Ya know, I did try to get Chris to install the simple spellcheck script on this board...but I think it got lost in the list of other enhancements people submitted to him. I mean, when the "About Us" link is still broken, when it would take less that 30 seconds to fix, I doubt that a 10 minute script install is going to happen around here! (hint, hint...   )

Well, if that is the case, you need to post over at my site more often...

Garr was collecting information for the About Us link and nothing ever happened after that..;)

Spell check is on the list, but I do love the humor in the errors on the boards...:)

Total software upgrade is first on the list for the boards. Soon...I am just BUSY the last few weeks...not working this summer so I have to focus on making money at the shop and the like...speaking of which...I have some money for you and more to come soon hopefully...eBay...

Ahhh yes...I'll have to stop by. Also, a guy asked me about a computer the other day and I told him I could give him your card or that one contact you have that builds/sells budget computers...

Have you basically just been at the office everyday? Let me know and I can swing by.

Garr dropped the ball:) Just messin' with ya!!!
