Read it here folks:

This brings up a good conversation.

I feel Star Trek is in desperate need of CPR. And I feel Abrams and Co. can do just that. I actually am excited at this news, I didn't know a thing about it. I called dad and told him they were relaunching the films and he asked, "When's the release date?"

It looks like they saw what happened with Battlestar Galactica and the new series on Sci Fi.

Hell it's already spawned a 2nd BSG themed series entitled 'Caprica'.

I'm always eager to a new Star Trek, but the Gene Roddenberry vision of the future seems a little bit dated. They tried shaking things up with DS9 but the core fans didn't like where things went.

I'd love to see a 'reboot' movie or show!

Damon and Affleck as Kirk and Spock? SAY IT ISN'T SO!

I'd much rather see talented newcomer no-names.

The "Affleck as Spock" bit was a wise-crack suggestion by Harry, the lord of "Ain't It Cool". Not an actual casting decision.

They don't even know if Spock will be included in the first film.

I think Damon could pull of the Captain roll. I'd pay to see that.

With the entire casts of My Wife & Kids, Hope & Faith, Friends, & According to Jim cast as the red shirt guys that get killed in the 1st 5 minutes - YES!

Jackie Chan - Sulu

Craig Fergusen or Willie the Janitor: Scotty

Halle Barry: U'Hura

Dennis Leary: Bones McCoy

For a total ST spoof, I would adore those casting suggestions.

I'd much rather see it filled with new nobodys, like they did with BSG. The only 'names' are Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, everyone else is a nobody.

Except I think Dennis Leary as McCoy would be a good serious choice.

"Yer gonna' sit yer gold-shirted ass down and let me examine you. Christ, it takes five minutes, and the bed does half the work before I even freakin' pick up my salt shaker/med tool. you idiot. Yer a freakin' Captain of a 430 person frickin starship, but you insist on going on every away team and gettin yourself nearly killed! You heard of the red shirts buddy? That's their job! Yours is to make sure this big tin can doesn't fly us all into a frickin black hole. Who's going to do that if your gone? Who you gonna' bang after some mutant VD that melts your balls into plastic after you bang some green chick with 5 breasts on Endos 4, HUH? Now lay still and give me twenty minutes to work up yet another miracle cure for your stupid ass. . ."

I think that's an excellent idea! With his solid preformances in 'Rescue Me' I think he would be an awesomely brash doctor.

I love the Leary as Bones thing, but I'd be waiting for him to go off on Spock the whole time.
