I just finished high school last year, and I know a lot of the times most of the kids don't do anything when there's a sub.. I sort of fit into that space--a lot of the times we either had nothing to do, watched a video, or were given time to work on whatever project we had to do-- if it wasn't the latter, I basically sat around with some friends.. I went to South Side, so I know how it can be, last year i took a class where I was the only senior in the class, because it was a slack class that I took (and dropped after a few weeks because I hated the teacher, was extremely far ahead, etc..). The freshmen were ridiculous when we had a sub, Kevin Hiatt subbed for us once too-- he basically seemed to hate the class.
The older the students= the better behaved--all I'm saying.

Double ditto. My dad put in extra hours by teaching at the school I went to so we all got free tuition - 4 of us. 95% of my graduating class has some college, and the ones who don't are all productive members of society. Could have done without the dress code, and some racial diversity would have been nice, but overall, I got the best education I could ever have asked for. My English classes in High School were tougher than my Junior Honors English level classes at IPFW.traumaqueen wrote:ditto.G Fresh wrote:This makes me really appreciate all of the sacrifices my parents made to be able to afford to send me to a small private school.

No discipline or fear, when I was a kid i feared getting into trouble at school and the punishment waiting at home. Now kids just say I'll sue you or call protective services if you spank me, the kids have the control and the adults have the fear.Dagwood Lee wrote:Work with youth nearly every day, 12-18.
