As for roasting vs. frying, my family did the fried turkey last year and it was incredibly juicy and delicious. However, it just didn't feel like Thanksgiving turkey. In my family the turkey is traditionally roasted till it's bone dry, then smothered in gravy to make it edible. For me it's all about tradition. Give me crappy overcooked turkey covered in gravy and noodles. Not delectable fried turkey with a crispy skin and juicy interior. That just feels like expensive restaurant food.
