Sweet and Center!!
Well there we have it, if you want to work in a music store in FW you can take it up the arse high tech style as they do at SW or you can go lowbrow workingclass a la Walmart and work for GC. The common thing it that each are not much more than legal pyramid situations which is about all that retail...

How is this different from CDBaby
Shawn, I went and checked out the site you recomend, but I wonder how is this really any different from what CDBaby does? They've licensed out both my cds track by trck to dozens of pay per track sites. I get a small check everyonce in awhile. Plus I'm still responsible for driving traffic to my CDB...

Yo to Oliver's Army, I will admit my original music is somewhat left of center but I also do various cover tunes on the gig as well. Currently I am gigging with a pedal steel guitar player doing old school country, i.e. Hank Sr., Bob Wills(country swing) early Johnny Cash. Check us out at Paula's on...

Point well taken
Jewlee, I think you have a point in re: live remixer type DJ's, esp those who utilize original material. As to pay differences btwn kareoke/DJ hosts and live musicians I'm wondering who is doing better. It seems like gigs for live music are harder to book due to the various issues I listed. Thanks f...

Fort Wayne Gigs and the Bottom Line
I want to start a serious thread discussing issues effecting live music in Fort Wayne. Specifically I'd like to talk about some of the things I've been running into as I book my own gigs as i'm wondering if other people are running into as well. In no particular order here they are: 1. ASCAP/BMI Lic...

The Fingerstyle Dude
Hello All, I'll give a go at introducing myself. I am Kevin Hiatt, a composer/songwriter, teacher, guitarist, active in the Fort Wayne scene since May 2001. Like many musicians I moved to FW to work for a certain company in town, when that didn't work out well there I was, a new guy in a medium size...

Guitarist/Vocalist/Songwriter seeks new band
Hello I'm looking to throw in with some other musicians in forming a vocal oriented acoustic pop/rock band. I'm older so CSNY is a point of departure for what I'm talking about but I'm open to more current styles such as John Mayer, Jack Johnson, etc. Currently I play close to a dozen gigs a month i...
