How many of the bands playing are emo/screamo/whatever under the guise of metal?

How can music thats influenced by those bands be considered "catchy"? The "screaming" that goes on in those bands sounds harsh and crappy...if you want any chance of having listenable music go for a singer that screams like Chris Cornell or Rob Halford.
