.... a caller into Larry King asked Vincente Fox(president of Mexico up until last year) about if there was any truth to uniting the US & Canadian dollar to the Mexican Peso making one currency,... "The Amero"

Mr.Fox:
"Long term, very long term," he said. "What we proposed together, President Bush and myself, it's ALCA,
which is a trade union for all the Americas."
Then Fox explained that he and Bush intended to proceed incrementally,

Along with the border issue, if this is truly happening, then Mr. Bush
deserves a strong smack on the head. Great job,.. another piece
of American Sovereignty being whittled away.

I think if you read the article, you'll see that the e-mailer didn't ask if the currencies of Mexico, the US and Canada would be linked, but rather how Vincente felt about all of Latin America sharing one currency.

Which makes his answer a very different thing.

Fox admitted on CNN's "Larry King Live" show that he and Bush had a plan to extend NAFTA to the tip of South America through the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas, or FTAA.

Responding to a question from a CNN viewer, Fox told King he and Bush planned to evolve the Western Hemisphere free trade agreements into a regional currency.
