Why would it? The sound of an electric guitar is almost entirely strings and pickups. I don't see any reason why it would sound bad. In fact, it might be as resonant as any jazz box, depending on how they tricked out the insides.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Now I'm gonna spend my entire long weekend trying to figure out if I can do this with my old Sega Genesis. I love the NES Paul name - what would we call a Genesis?
