Apparently they gave the award to one of the other canned "country" singers instead of her. Who cares? You both had the same songwriters writing your songs, the same musicians playing on your albums and the same producers making your marginally talented voices sound better than they really do.
Should be changed to ... "And the award for best-looking female vocalist goes to..."

Oh this is one of the sweetest things I've seen in a while.
It really shows that Faith Hill has no idea what is happening in the industry. Her album tanked...hard and Carrie Underwwod moved the most units of any female country artist this year.
Whenever people came in for tickets to Brad Paisley at the Coliseum a few weeks back, thay asked for Carrie Underwood tickets. Being the smart-ass I am, I played dumb whenever I looked up the tix, because if you were to look up Carrie Underwood it would bring up nothing. So I made them name the actual talent that she was touring with, which is Brad Paisley (this guy is a f*cking fantastic guitarist) a guy that writes his own songs in a sea of dudes that look a little too pretty to be taken as straight let alone a rough and tumble country boy. It was funny because about 2/3's of them couldn't name who she was here with, they had to go call someone to find out, the smart one's saw the giant poster in the window and figured it out.

hehehehe... I don't know that the word "smart" belongs near a post about Carrie Underwood fans. Although I agree with you about Brad Paisley. That guy smokes.
Also, (my wife likes C&W, which is why I know this) but there was at least one guy on there last night who was lip-synching his "live" performance. Young dude, 5-O'CLock shadow, thermal undershirt on...
And is it me or are 99% of those songs just prettied up Lynrd Skynrd riffs?

Who cares about any of these cheese balls. They all suck. Meanwhile Shelby Lynne, Kathleen Edwards, Mary Gauthier don't even get a second of radio time while they have actual talent.
Brad Paisley is an amazing guitar player, but a lot of his songs suck royal ding dong. But he's got the talent for sure. I guess it's all what you like.
I'll take Todd Snider, Prine, and Lyle Lovett. Alejandro Escovedo was just on Austin City Limits last weekend. Unbelievable. Two cellos, fiddle. It was incredible. The crowd at the CMA's...90% of 'em, wouldn't even think what he was doing was music cuz it didn't have soaring, hook-laden choruses and BS lyrics like Jesus Take the Wheel. More like Jesus Make the Deal. Make me a superstar/cuz I can't write my own songs/ I need an instant hit/ I need the mainstream sh*t/ So Jesus make the deal.
Watch the Americana awards on CMT some time. Now that's the sh*t.
Sorry. I got a little OC.

I LOVE Shelby Lynne. You are right, she doesn't get enough credit. She has an earlier CD that has a jazz feel to it that is the best, but country radio would never touch it! It's a shame.

Her newest CD (Go With It?) has a jazzy cut--Go With It. Real nice.

Dude, I couldn't agree more about the current state of Nashville, its about as sad as the war in Iraq.
I was merely pointing out that Paisley is obviously the only talented guy in that realm of the Pop-Country scene. He won Album of the Year, good for him and them for that matter.
Yeah, a lot of his songs are pure dreck.

For sure. I couldn't play the leads he does with eight fingers on my left.

Country music needs more ugly people to be legit again. I'm only half-kidding. Think about it...
Hank Williams - ugly as sin
Johnny Cash - not as ugly, but still ugly
Willie Nelson - UGLY
Chris Christofferson - Ugly
George Jones - Ugly
Lyle Lovett - HELLO! Ugly
Loretta Lynn - definitely not a pretty woman
Dolly Parton - ugly woman with big breasticles - and one of the greatest songwriters of any generation
Then consider...
Garth Brooks - pretty mama's boy
Toby Keith - well, he's ugly, but in a manufactured sort of way
Tim McGraw - pretty boy in a fake black hat
Carrie Underwood - downright HAWT
Faith Hill - hello! HOT
Ditzy Chicks - Hot - every one of 'em
Gretchen Wilson - See Toby Keith above, but she definitely ain't pretty
Case closed, bring back the ugly people

Maybe if I switched to the country genre, I might have a chance down here...
