i was 3.
not a significant event in my home.
my mother certainly did not cry.
it took getting out in the world and meeting those of other backgrounds to realize the gravity of this event- 18 years down the road.

here's a very strange story: i have a framed picture of john lennon in my living room on the wall and for no unexplained reason at all, the picture fell off the wall. this happened on dec. 8 at 11 pm. i'm not sure what time he was murdered, but this really has me freaked out......

That's spelled "Jai guru deva om." Roughly translated it means "Thank you, Guru Dev," or "Salutations to Guru Dev." Dev was the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's techer, so the phrase was no doubt chanted by the Maharishi.
