McAlister's Deli

Post by deek »

I've been wanting a good deli in Fort Wayne for a long time and while its not a famous hole-in-the-wall like I see on Food Network in big cities, I think its a step in the right direction. And since they had both a New Yorker (pastrami and corned beef) and a Reuben - my two favorite sandwiches - I was sold.

Since I've pounded a ton of Reubens, I wanted to try the New Yorker. It was pretty good, but not piled insanely high as I would have liked. The surprise came with the side of cole slaw, as it was outstanding!

My wife ended up with a "pick two" combo that can be found in many sandwich shops around town and my kids split a grilled cheese sandwich (which was cut in four piece and architecturally stacked).

It was a little pricey, but there is enough stuff on the menu to get me back in there the next time I'm out by Jefferson Pointe.

The service was a bit slow, although it was pretty busy the night that we were there.
