horn(s) needed

Post by bassjones »

For funk/soul/R&B band. Willing to work for very little money right now - maybe one set a night or something - until we get bigger paying gigs. For now it will probably be a situation where if we can afford to hire a horn player or two we will, but if we can't afford it based on that night's pay, we won't. Eventually, we'd like to have a full horn section all the time, but until we get the kind of draw to demand $100 per man, that's probably not going to happen.

Set list to include Parliament/P-Funk, Earth Wind and Fire, Meters, Commodores, Tower of Power, Motown, James Brown, etc...

No written charts, so a good ear is required. We do a lot of improvisational jamming as well, so expect to venture from the script fairly often - while still making it groove - again, a good ear is required. Most chord transitions during jams are led by the bass player (me), so you'll be expected to instantly recognize a ii chord and fill in your part immediately.

We don't practice a whole lot - usually once a week or so, and it's not even every week, so you'll need to pick stuff up pretty quickly too. We're looking for players with experience and a semi-pro ability level. PM or email if interested.

Our primary interest is a saxaphone player at the moment and add other pieces as we go. Would also seriously consider a trumpet. Obviously, Bari-sax or 'bone wouldn't come into play until we were using a full horn section.
