I consider myself to be an above par percussionist. I have played every thing from Death Metal to Contemporary Gospel music.Including, rock grooves, funk grooves,hip-hop grooves, jazz grooves(shuffle, swing,&waltz) world and specialty grooves(disco, new orleans, reggae, calypso, soca, bossa nova, samba, batucada, merengue, chacha, bolero, mambo, songo, nanigo, mozambique, salsa, tango,&beguine)
Throughout my tenure as a percussionist, I have played in concert bands, marching bands including a tour with the Star of Indiana drum and bugle corps in the late 80's,jazz bands, pep bands, and rock cover bands. All of this before I finished college. From there I auditioned and made it into the Army Band, for a 4 year stint at Fort Knox, Ky.
Then as the story goes,I met a girl, she got pregnant,we got married, and my musical career was put on hold. Of course that relationship did not last long, and I made a rebound.I landed a gig with a national touring act in the early part of 93. That gig lasted 2 1/2 fun but fast years. And.......................................................................... I met another girl. I decide to settle here in N.E Indiana. Besides, this is where I am from.
I sold my "Drums", and bought a D.J./Karaoke system. I had officially retired from the real music scene.
That lasted for about 5-6 years, and I could take it no more.Anways, the story goes in reverse. I sold the D.J./Karaoke gear and bought a new set of drums. I was a little rusty.I started taking lessons again. I started playing with some friends, and fell back in love with my first love, "drums".
Now to the present.. After a few years of being back in the game.I have played with some real losers and some real winners. I don't think I need to clarify on that, pretty self explanatory.
So why this mini-bio? I want to let you know up front where I am coming from,no questions.
This is what I have to offer: My so-called expertise in the percussion arts,My comittment(If you give me a time I will be there.),No baggage(drugs, the law,or a bitchy spouse),No ego,A place to practice,A decent van for travel to and from gigs, and practice if need be, A fairly above average sense of humor, and a taste for a cold beer upon occasion.
All of this in trade, for a group of musicians with some kind of direction,Pro Gear, absolutely no hang-ups,whose time means something to them, and the ability to have fun at the same time.
I am open to just about any genre of music(prefer original work). I am 38.Married with children. I am available most weekday evenings after 4:30 and most weekends whenever.
If interested you may send me a p.m. here or e-mail me at ugotdrums2@verizon.net..
