Well I grew up in Decatur with the D-Gary boys as well as the Mighty Ehrmann.

I am currently stuck in Iraq....though my year is nearly over. I am a combat medic with the 101st Airborne Division. I've been all over this damn country working in one clinic after another. This is my 3rd year, and last, in the Army

Soon, I shall make my retrun to the Fort and all that entails. After a few months of re-acquainting with my old life, I am gonna take a sabbatical up to the northland of Minnesota. Use the time to shut myself in for the winter and clear my head/refocus after this past year of hell.

Once the spring hits I will setup shop back in the Fort where I plan to further my medical studies. Get my license in the paramedic field. Then hopefully get a license in physical therapy and re-up my massage therapy certification.

So hit me up if you want to hang out. Soon I will be a regular fixture at D-Gary/Superhunk/Legendary Trainhoppers/Threo Huxtable shows.

Tell me,... how accurate is our national press
on reporting the Iraqi hostilies over your way?

How much of the country is "secured"?
How do the locals truly view our(your) efforts?
Is it total chaos in a few, some, most, all, areas?
Curious to how accurate we are on reporting
on this end?

Well the national press over there only covers the "money" news. That which sells. Sure the bombings you see on TV are real enough, but you never know when those events actually happened.

As for security of the country well that's a relative thing. I mean I was in Mosul for 4 months and we had mortars coming in about everyday, despite all the patrols and security in the area. I can't say what it's like in other areas.

A lot of Iraq's applaude our efforts over there, they have some measure of freedom never imagined during Saddam's reign. I've worked with a lot of locals and they loved the efforts we were making. Of course I saw the opposite side that, working in a prison, and saw the people that hate us. So who can say out in the "real" world.

They don't show in the news all the schools and hospitals we've helped build. How we've cleaned up parts of the country that we filthy with garbage and waste. How we've brought power to areas that have never had electricity. All the medical care we give to locals.

So it is what it is. The news has to continue to "sell" the war to continue support for the war. People don't want to hear about the good, just the carnage and death.

All I know is I am ready to leave, I am tired of the desert and just can't wait to see my friends and family again.

Screw the desert....

is being made..

We here can only imagine what it's like on
a daily basis for any of you over there.

the "if it bleeds it leads" tends to dominate
the news on this end.
