I was born Alan Quandt, 2-14-1981 at the old Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

I lived on the northside of town for half my childhood until 4th grade my family moved next to Waynedale. As a kid I tired several sports including basketball, baseball, football, diving, and swimming. The only sport I was any good at was swimming, i did that for about 6 yrs, before moving away from sports and into music.

I had always been involved in art in someway but never new i would have such an interest in music.

I went to St. Paul Lutheran from k-3rd grade.

Image

Then moved out south and went to Indian Village Elementary for 4th and 5th grade.

Image

Around this time I started taking piano lessons, though I wanted to play drums, my parents made me take piano first.

Image

Then for 6th Grade I attended Kekionga Middle School.

Image

I was in the orchestra there for a semester. Before moving to Memorial Park Middle School for 7th and 8th grades where I was in their award winning concert band in the percussion section.

It was around this time period that I really started getting into computers and the art you can make with them. though we had very limited technology at my house at the time I learned everything I could with what i had.

Image

Fort High School I attended Southside HS for one semester before transferring to Concordia for the remainder of that year as well as my Sophomore year. Then I dropped out.

I decided to go back next year where I attended Elmhurst HS. I finally go a decent computer, and my first professional keyboard. I was 17yrs old. Then I dropped out again before completing my Junior year. I also adapted the alias Kim Aliz for my electronic music.

Yes that's real.

Shortly after dropping out I moved out with some friends to a quadplex home over in the lakeside area then moved around for the next year or so. During that time I decided to take my GED then my SAT, then said f**k it and when I wasn't partying my ass off I attended college for @ IPFW for the next 3 yrs.

Image

During that period my friends all decided to move back to Indian Village at my best friends house, now known as "The House" to all of us as well as the waynedale crew.

Then after I did all i could do at IPFW at the time, I took a chance (and a hefty loan) and moved to FL and attended Full Sail, in Orlando.

While in school I joined a rap/rock group with my brother Carl and my friend Joe. We called ourselves Vulgar Virtue to Society.

The first week I was in Orlando I met a girl and dated her the whole time I was in school and had a baby with her the day before I graduated college.

After school my new family and I moved home to Fort Wayne. My FL band broke up since our guitarist moved to New York (we he still is to this day). I started and Org. called FortSAC with a few other local musicians we brought Sunset Hall back to life and ran the hall for a little over a year. At the same time I answered an ad on FWM.com for a drummer, and joined the hard rock band Severence. Severence went on to Make it to the X Essentials CD in 2004 and was nominated as Best New Performer in the Whatzup Whammy awards of 2004.

At the same time I joined Severence, I started something new with my brother Carl. He had some idea for a new song of sorts. This band went through a handful of members for the next year before even playing a show. We finally ended up with the current line up we have now. We decided to call our band Pleasing Melani, after and argument with our #1 fan about his ex-girlfriend (melani) not liking a cover song we were going to play, we were like "What are we Pleasing Melani now?" it stuck.

Now that FortSAC is on Hiatus and I have become an administrator of FWM. My Daughter is now 2 yrs old and lives with her mother back in Fl for the time being. I am still in Pleasing Melani playing all of the place and I am still composing music for the Kim Aliz project.

Actually I met Chuck (grindspine) and Jackie around the same era...

I met chuck at Concodria not but a few days after I started. A then friend DJ brought me up to see some older kid that was in a band and needed a drummer. "Woah, those are drum sticks, you're a drummer" is all it took. I was now in a metal / 45 min improv, one member take a break for a sec. to slam a mountain dew then jump right back in type a band (also BTW this was my first band). I new nothing of metal at this point, I new Metallica, and then a long list of ass rock bands. I was then introduced to Slayer, in fact Seasons in the Abyss was the only actual song we could play. These pricks worked me so hard I as practically do double bass work on a single kick.

Shortly after, chuck introduced me to a guitar player that was looking to replace his drummer. This ended up being my first real band. We went through many of bass players, a couple of singers, and chuck was in and out of the band the entire duration of it. We were first called "90 Proof" (come on man what do you expect, we are playing Metallica and Megadeth covers in a barn). "Seek and destroy" became my favorite song to cover just because it was quite the challenge after you guitar player has forced (hardly) massive amounts of liquor and beer in to ya.

We then found our permanent singer Chris (which is still floating around making music somewhere). Sadly when Creed came out it changed our band completely. We became them. I never really liked them too much, i was more into Pantera and tool at the time. Basically the chemistry in this band is what destroyed it. We worked so well together (making crappy music) that we didn't end up finally calling it quits for like 5 yrs.

It was a very good experience though. It was shortly after that I met Matt Brown (Sealing Pandora). This marked a brand new journey of music making (deftones influenced as hell). We formed SAI, which went through a couple of guitarists one who actually died twice while in our band, because of this we didn't have many songs because we had to write new ones every time we got a new guitarist, but a few of you were lucky enough to hear us at "The House" for our basement shows. This group led me to meet this like 15yr old guitar genius, (Nate PM's guitarist) whole played forking awesome but was soo shy you couldn't get him to turn up his forking amp loud enough! That finally got fixed much later.

Nate and I have been jammin ever since. Matt joined, Sarin (now Sealing Pandora) shortly after I left for school in FL. So SAI was basically dead, we thought of reviving it again mid 2005, dropped it, then had part of the line up for the brief moment that Westpusher was around. None of us had time to commit to the Westpusher thing with our other bands doing so well, so we have basically dropped that as well.
