I do hope you're not trying to suggest/imply that the current set of fires blazing in the western half of the country are related to this.

The story was posted over 4 years ago, plenty of time for the operatives (if the plot was real) to have carried out their deed before now. Further, wildfires start in the western states just about every year. Just last year the Chargers had to move a home game to Phoenix because their parking lot and stadium had become an emergency center.

I'd be hard pressed to believe terrorists started the fires.

Heard on the radio a short while ago, that there are
claims of someone spotting a white male trying
to start one.

Though not sure if I believe it or not, it's definitely more believable
than those that claim "global warming" is part of the cause.

9-11 was at least 10 years in the planning... It's certainly PLAUSIBLE isn't it? More plausible than "Global Warming" IMHO. I remembered reading this a few years ago and Drudge had it as a flashback on his site this morning.

The Japanese had a similar plan for the West Coast back in WW2.

I don't think there's a link. Al Quaida would take credit by now if they started all of those fires.

The cat makes a good point. Al Queda would be all over it by now.

Moreover, I've never suggested this was global warming. Global warming is part of a cycle of temperature changes that the Earth goes through every so many years. People forget that in the 60s, people were concerned about global cooling, and thought we were about to enter another Ice Age (without Ray Romano).

Fact is, stupid yuppie campers in Colorado don't put out their fires properly. Couple that with a dry forest and high temperatures and you end up with a fire spreading faster than it can be contained.

Fires help cleanse the earth and make the soil nutrient rich for the next forest to grow in. This is why farmers used to burn their fields every few years. I'd suggest that there were fires even before there was man. Lightning bolt hits a tree, tree falls onto dry ground, and the earth is renewed for another growing cycle. It's Mother Nature's way of cleansing herself.

Th idiot campers just help her along.

They have finally started to figure this out in Australia as well, where the threat of a firestorm burning out Sydney has always been a big problem.

The Aborigines would live in an area for a while, and then burn it to the ground. Then they would come back a few years later and the ground would be more fertile than it was before.

When you live in an area with little rainfall and plants which burn really easily....what do you think is going to happen?

They're trying to take our freedom and our forestry? What's next!

Eventually there will be enough crap out there that many people will be too terrified to leave their homes...which is good: it isolates their crap to internet forums.

Especially if they move a White Castles into the area....

For the people of San Diego and the surrounding areas who are "surprised" by these fires.

It's like living in Indiana and being "surprised" by a tornado or two feet of snow (sometimes in the same week!)

Officials are now saying that 2 of the fires were definitely started by an arsonist...

Not surprised. If done correctly, you could easily set a fire with no one ever finding out.

Not saying that I would do such a thing. And I haven't been in California for well over a year.

We'll see what happens... If the guy they arrest is Middle Eastern, I won't be surprised. That's all I'm saying...
