The Prestige

Post by Morphine Child »

I was kind of surprised there was not a topic about this movie. Starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, and Scarlet Johannson, and directed by Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, Memento). Anyways, I saw this movie about a week ago and was totally blown away. The acting is amazing, and the plot is very twisty, and well thought out.

Anyone else dig it?

It was good, but The Illusionist with Edward Norton blew it out of the water.

I'll have to check that one out, I haven't had a chance to see it yet.

I really liked the prestige, but I am expecting the illusionist to be better, if only because Norton's in it. AWESOME ending. A friend and I got to talking tonight about how he's one of very few actors who has yet to make a really bad movie.
I'm a critic of this shameful contract, and of wasteful consumption, on general principles. Since it's nonsensical, plus embarrassing, to be an outspoken critic of things you do yourself, I set myself long ago to denting the salacious appetites of my homeland and making us a more perfect union by living inside this imperfect beast, poking at its belly from the inside with my one little life and the small, pointed sword of my pen. Some may say this is rationalization, but....I really like medium Snickers Blizzards from Dairy Queen. And you can't get those in India. At least not good ones.

Italian Job was a fun popcorn flick that kicked the crap out of its somehow cult statusfied predecessor. As for Norton in a bad flick, the second half of Down in the Valley is bad-unless you consider slow motion underwater paint drying fun. Don't forget his directorial debut with Dharma and Stiller.
