whatzup and fortwaynemusic.com are teaming up for a weekly music showcase Thursday nights at Columbia Street West beginning September 4, a week after the whatzup Battle of the Bands V concludes on Aug. 28.
The showcase will run every Thursday from 9 p.m. to midnight at the downtown Fort Wayne club at least until the whatzup's 6th annual Battle of the Bands commences in 2009. Columbia Street West was selected as the venue because of its size, the quality of its stage and sound and its availability.
Al Quandt from fortwaynemusic.com and Doug Driscoll of whatzup are organizing the showcase, which typically will feature three bands each Thursday. Quandt, who can be reached via e-mail at showcase@fortwaynemusic.com, will be handling the booking.
The showcase will also host national acts at Columbia Street West on Thursday nights. Showcase organizers will provide the stage, sound and promotion in both whatzup and fortwaynemusic.com at no cost to promoters.
